View Full Version : PIAA's stopped working . . . . .

Here's what should be an easy one . . . . . drove to work yesterday morning in the dark and used the PIAA's - worked fine.

Left work around 9PM and switched them on (or shoud I say attempted to). The bike has the switch to turn them on/off using the turn signal cancel. Held the switch and the light on the dash illuminated but the PIAA's themselves did not.

Checked the in-line fuse under the seat and it was fine.

Any thoughts considering the fact that the green light comes on as if the driving lights were on but the lights do not?

Thanks in advance

I would first check the fuse, then the relay.

You definitely need to check the relay. The fact that you have an AutoSwitch also means that you do indeed have a relay. Do you know where it resides?

Still tracing it out . . . . that's the probelm with a job, can't get to the things you want to do :)

Bulbs? I had one go out, possible you lost both at the same time. Should be easy to run power direct from the battery to the lights to check, then look for the relay if they work with the jumper. The indicator light probably shows power to the relay.

Well, checked the relay and for some reason it seemed to have come apart - just enough to not make contact but not really obvious unless you were checking for it . . . . clicked the case back in place and does not appear to be loose at all so all I can surmise is that it must have been one of those gremlins we have floating around at the plant . . . . . thanks for the suggestions, glad it was a simple fix. :)
