I'm retired military living in Germany (been here 37 years!) who's decided the only way to REALLY see Europe is with a motorcycle. So, last week my wife and I took a test ride on the new K1200GT. She pretty much summed it up just as we hit 160 kph on Autobahn A6 with a loud "NICE". Can't beat the Autobahn for "getting where you're going". We'll be taking delivery next Tuesday after the helmet radio system and 49l. top case are received/installed I'st stop will be the Dolomites in the Spring. We opted for all the optional goodies like ESA, heated "everything", Xenon, etc. I share the enthusiasm of all you guys - what a machine!!

Congrats! If you think you like it now, give it 6 months. It only gets better & better. :)

Congrats on your decision to get the GT. It is the best bike I have ever owned. Enjoy your bike and the Dolomites. You have some of the best roads I have ever been on.
In a different life I was up the road in Baumholder. I really enjoyed my time in Germany.

John,
Congratulations! We love our GT. My gal has been hanging on the back of my bikes since 1971 and this GT is her favorite.:bmw:
We've been thru the Alps many times in several different directions. The biggest danger is those who cut the apex and block your path. Be careful! They may be passing a really slow truck going up and they do not see you coming down. Try the run from Munich to Milano, then Milano over Mt Blanc up to Paris. Amazing. Or if the passes are closed, run along the Italian Riveiriea then Monaco (stay in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat) then down to Barcelona.
Good way to get to know the bike.
I once made the run from Barcelona to LeMans in 14 hours. Locals said no way, takes two days. It's traffic more than distance. With the GT you can sllice thru traffic.

Congrat's, sir! Welcome to our little web site. Can't think of a better place to ride a GT than on the A/B. Also, thank you for your service to our country.
