View Full Version : To HID or not to HID?

I've only ridden my LT twice at night so far (in the four days I've owned it). It has PIAA lights that add quite a bit of light, mostly to the 20 feet or so ahead of the bike. I don't know if they can be aimed to project any farther (esp without annoying the heck out of whoever is in front of me). They are also very blue.

So, there are just a few days left to snag a kit on the HID group buy.

Should I?

It would be the best farkle that you could add to your bike. And well worth the investment. It was the first thing I added to my bike after purchasing it. If I had to do it all over again, I would add HID.

I ride at night as little as possible and once I added the HID my night brightened..... As many will say, it is the first and best investment you can make for the bike. It's not hard to so and will make a real difference that you and oncoming traffic will see.

At $86 . . . it's a no-brainer! Just Do IT! :) I put one in my GT, and the GT's stock low-beam was 2-3 times brighter than the LT's. But HID is in a whole new league. Once you go there, there's no going back.

Absolutely. You will be amazed and forever thankful that you took the plunge.

If you never, ever add any other farkle to your bike but the HID low beam, you'll have the best there is. :thumb:

Just read back on some of the other comments folks've made after installing an HID system. There is no other single more significant 'modification' you can do. For the money, there's no comparison. And at less than $100 (until 31 Jan - see the group buy thread) - it's likely the most cost effective.

Anymore, asking that question only goes to show you haven't yet read all the previous and wide ranging posts, comments and threads on the idea. (Could mean you "have a life" and don't spend *all* your time reading old chat board comments   )

So, we 'converted' ya yet? <g>

Adding an HID is kinda like washing a good coating of vaseline out of your eye's.

DO it. you will not regret it. I have outfitted all of my vehicles. I would do my lawn tractor if it had head lights. Oh wait it does. MMMMMM maybe my next upgrade.

I have been reading the old threads. I have. Really. Well, as many as I can in a couple of days. I just wasn't sure if it was going to be a significant improvement over the stock light + the PIAAs. I guess I haven't found that thread, yet.

And time's a-wastin', so I thought I'd ask.

I'll order the kit tomorrow.

Thanks, all.

Go for the HID and save money on your next helmet. Cheap hemets are better than expensive and HID is soooooo much better than stock.

Everything Tate says and more! Get the HID! Plus it really is a steal at the price they have nailed. I paid well over $100 a good 4 or 5 years ago, and the light is still shining strong!

(Minor Hi-Jack, please forgive)
TATE! Please check your PM's!!!! Tks in advance!

HID allows you to see them.

Should I?Howdy Juggler,

I put Piaa's on before the HID's and they were...good. Then I put on an HID low and high beam and the Piaa's are flat out useless (unless you believe in oncoming cars seeing a "triangle" light pattern for visibility).

At less than $100 and the fact that the ballast for both fit nicel on top of the light box in the nose it's a lot easier to do them both at the same time.

Absolutely, positively, YES!!! The HID is by far the best lighting upgrade you can do to the bike. I've had HID low and high beams on my last 2 LTs and don't think I would own one without them.
