Am I the only one ???? I finally tore the bike down to do my HIDs, AUX radio plug and a few other things. If you have run into this how did you fix it?

I disassembled the H3 bulb assembly By removing the metal sleeve from the plastic, I removed the Z shaped bulb tensioner/contact and drilled out the plastic to pass the connectors through. I then slid the metal piece over the bulb and lined up both sides ( 1 round and 1 square). The bulb fits properly against the tabs. I then reinstalled the black plastic into the metal sleeve with the tabs engaged on both sides.

The problem I am encountering is the bulb moves inside the sleeve. What have you done to correct this or is it just me. I thought about getting everything lined uo and then fill the back portion of the lamp holder with silicone on putting a few spots of JB Weld on the tabs that keep the bulb in place. See photos

Help!!!! and thanks...

Have you thought about using the foam piece that comes on the low beam (HID) bulb holder to shim that bulb up from the back?

Which kit is this?

HID-online.com provides a machined spacer to take up the slack and to make sure the bulb's depth is correct.

HID4Less.com (now defunct) used to fill the back with silicone. But bulb depth was a hit or miss (halo effect).

Maybe Joe can help.Sorry Charlie...I've never fooled with the high-beam HID kits from CQLight.ca, just the H7s.

Although, their instructions talk about using the "Waterproof Washer" for certain applications. That's the part that I have circled in the pic below. For the low-beam one doesn't need this. But perhaps it would help with the high-beam installation. I don't know. :o

Help!!!! and thanks...David, I had the same issue and realized that the black plastic base was not going in far enough, and the result was the bulb not positioned properly in the holder. I had to take out some of the black plastic and made sure the base of the bulb went in all the way. I can tell by your pictures that the bulb is still too low. The base of the light must be flush with the tabs, and to achieve this you may have to bend the lowest tab out of the way. It is a PITA but in the end the bulb will fit where it belongs. I verified that with the original bulb. I wish I had thought of taking pictures while I was doing the work, but installing the high beam was not an easy task and one can become easily frustrated. Let's just say I was glad when it was done!

I'm not happy to see that you had the same problem that I did.. I was surprised that no one had similar problems to mine. Numerous people responded to my posts with they had no quality issues with the CQ HID kits. It seems like they never installed a high beam HID from CQ.

IMHO, you also got what we paid for.. I spend a few hours with rat tail files and Dremel bits till I got my bulb to sit firm and all the way forward.
