Okay, I'm new here, so I don't know if anyone has already posted a link to this site... and I'm still trying to suss out what belongs in Chit-Chat, and what in Bike Talk...
Nevertheless...
After reading the thread on re-painting one's BMW, I started looking for info on what colors were used in what years, etc. and tripped over this site with some really cool pictures of really cool bikes. I have "borrowed" several of the old ones for my screen saver.
Particularly interesting is the R7 which never went into production.
I've always said, if I ever win the lottery, I am buying the OLDEST running BMW I can get my hands on.
Enjoy...

Down here in SoCal we have a dealer "Irv Seaver" and hanging up in the showroom are some old Beemers and in a showcase they have what one saleperson told me was the oldest running BMW and it is beautiful and runs like new. If your down this way go take a look. This is just one of them.

I'm not sure if it's running, but it's stunning. And it's not in a case, you can poke your nose right up to it.
I saw the "Art of the Motorcycle" exhibit at the Venetian in Vegas a couple years ago. They had an R32, that IIRC was on loan from BMW. Not sure if it was S/N 1 or just an early number. It was nice. Very nice. But the one at Blue Moon is cleaner!
I will put Seaver's shop on my list of places to go.

I kinda like the one in John Landstrom's office. ;)

I picked up my K1200lt from Irv Seaver. It's a bit disconcerting to sit under those bikes in the waiting area(quakes and all). They have a great group of people there. They have always gone the extra mile for me . Thanks for the photo. :D Down here in SoCal we have a dealer "Irv Seaver" and hanging up in the showroom are some old Beemers and in a showcase they have what one saleperson told me was the oldest running BMW and it is beautiful and runs like new.
