Just received the 2620 and after it's turned on for a minute or so, the screen starts to fade in and out then then pretty much fades compltely out. I just shut it off for awhile and when I turn it back on same thing/sequence happens. Spose I'll have to send it to Garmin. just got it too..grr..haven't even registered it yet.

.. or is there something I'm missing here as far as the fix..

Garmin has the best customer service going. Call them. Send up flares, email, telegraph, even fax (maybe). They will take care of you. Congrats on a great unit.

If you just bought it, take it back to the place you bought it and get another.

I agree with Pete. Garmin's customer service is top notch. While you're on the phone with them, see if they'll replace your 2610 for a 2720. They've done that for several of us. Tell them you've heard about a lot of issues with the 2610's screen...it's worth a shot.

Eljeffe..I'm over 200 miles away from a mall or anything that would have this.. I ordered it online and is suppose to be a new unit.

Joe.. it's a 2620 not a 2610, but still prob has the same issue as did the 2610

both the 2610 and 2620 are discontinued.. I'll register it with Garmin online and will then contact them. I also picked up a 5 yr extended warranty. Now I wonder what happens to the extended warranty if Garmin would replace it?

I still need to register the warranty too.. think the extended warranty would kick in after the one yr warr garmin provides..

I still need to register the warranty too.. think the extended warranty would kick in after the one yr warr garmin provides..I would contact them before registering anything. It might save them some red tape, and get you a newer unit. Either way, I'd leave it up to them.

Guess I could call them first, tell them the date I bought it, when it shipped and when I got it along with whats goin on with the screen.

Now hopefully there number is on their website..

other than the screen fading in and out, when it works, it's actually pretty cool...lol

Interesting... I got a NOH 2610 and notice a "flicker" in teh screen, usually on the two startup screens and then only rarely. Thought maybe it was just as it warmed up. I'll definitely keep an eye on that.

Missed that issue somewhere, when I was researching. Odd that they would send out an NOH unit with that issue. Could be a return from one of you guys, even. Did they just clean it up and send it out again, hoping no one would notice? That would seem to be a rather dumb move, since they would get it back anyway. RO do they even know when they send them out how they perform. Would seem they would at least give it a look, before sending out a unit. But then I don;t know that much about mass production.
