View Full Version : There are PLENTY of rooms at the Inn

Yesterday there was a glitch in the system at Tan-Tar-A causing our block in the main hotel buildings to show full. That glitch has been resolved.

Tan-Tar-A has two communities: Your normal boxed in hotel rooms in multistory buildings with parking in the basement. This is referred to as the 'complex'.
Beautiful villas in a separate community with parking right out your front door, up to four sleeping rooms in one building for groups, some with washer and dryers, private patios and a great 'block party' environment. These private condos are wrapped around the golf course and offer varied views and all offer a real neighborhood feel.

Tan-Tar-A is accustomed to their group business consisting of people who go for meals and seminars. Because of that the hotel staff was not even mentioning the Villas to our early registrants, resulting in most being put in the hotel buildings. They did not realize that our reunion is more about riding and friendship than about meetings and meals. Since the registration was so lopsided in favor of the complex, Scott (our very supportive Tan-Tar-A manager in charge of this group meeting) decided to close that block yesterday so that he could better prepare his staff to properly promote both of the options. He has since opened up the block again.

The room rates are the same, whether in the Villas or the complex. Most (if not all) of the Board of directors are staying in the Villas. I can't imagine wanting to stay in an ordinary multistory hotel, when I can stay in a much nicer environment for the same money.

Some folks seem concerned that the villas are too far away from the hotel. Most of us are going to be out riding all day, shopping or dining in Osage Beach, playing golf or any of scores of other off-site activities. If you do want to go to the hotel complex Tan-Tar-A runs a shuttle service that runs constantly. If you call for a shuttle it will be at your front door within ten minutes in most cases. Michelle and I have stayed there on quite a few occasions since we began consideration of this venue. We have always stayed in the Villas. Most of the time when we have called for a shuttle it was there within minutes of our call, barely time to pick up our things and get out front and meet it. We will have extra transportation on key nights for the reception, banquet and any other planned meals.

To me, the villas represent the same kind of feeling that we had in the cottages at Jackson Lake in 2005. I can envision the same group gatherings emerging each evening, or just walking around and meeting people through seeing their bike parked right in front of their room. Since the first reunion at Broken Bow, we always want to go to the next one because of the people we met and the opportunity to meet more. We met more strolling around the Jackson Lake Lodge cottages than we have at any reunion before. The Tan-Tar-A villas represent a very similar opportunity.

I cannot understand why anyone would choose a stuffy, ordinary hotel room over the villas. If you have already selected the hotel without understanding what the choices were the hotel would be more than willing to change your accommodations.

Here is a picture of one of the standard hotel rooms:

Guest room $89
One bedroom suite $149
Two bedroom suite $238
State & local taxes 5.25%
County lodging tax 3%

The suites, I assumed were in the Villas..Sure wasn't told I could stay in the Villas for the same price as my room.....

Can we get some more detail on this as I might want to try to change my reservation.. I think I will just call and try to change...

Thanks

John

Just called and changed my reservation to the Villas....

Randy, I really appreciate you letting us know about this.. I certainly didn't realize I could be staying in the Villa's for 89.00 a nite....

Wonder who my neighbors will be...That kind of makes it cool as well..

Thanks again Randy,

John

JohnExactly my thinking, too. I'd switch in a heartbeat.

Randy, one question: Are one-bedroom villas? If not, how does one share a villa with another couple or party -- does the hotel handle it?

<edit>
Just called Tan-Tar-A and made the switch. The Villas are $149/night; the Estates are $89/night -- same as the complex. Estates are still 1BR/1bath, but in smaller, house-type units as you describe. Not all the homes are in their rental program. I'm sure you know all this; just providing more info for fellow attendees.

JohnYour welcome. FYI (and everyone else) the villas all consist of one suite with two or three attached standard rooms. Either category goes for the same rate, whether in the Villas or the complex. If a group wants to share a villa, they can each get a room and share a common living room and kitchen. The math is simple: Standard room (attached to a suite in a villa) $89
One bedroom suite (with living room and kitchen) $149
Two bedroom suite (One bedroom suite with attached standard room) $238 ($149+$89) or $119 per room if shared.
Three bedroom suite (One bedroom suite with 2 attached standard rooms) $327 ($149+$89*2) or $109 per room if shared.
Four bedroom suite (One bedroom suite with 3 attached standard rooms) $416 ($149+$89*3) or $104 per room if shared.
Five bedroom suite (One bedroom suite with 4 attached standard rooms) $505 ($149+$89*4) or $101 per room if shared.

Each sleeping room still has privacy, even if you share a villa. I would think we would even see a deal making flurry on this board where attendees actually try to find others to share the arrangement so they could have a full kitchen and a living room with little additional cost.

Imagine the possibilities if one actually had friends ;)

Come on California, Texas and Ohio - I know you want to do this.

Jenny at Tan-Tar-A told me that they are just multiple motel rooms built into a house.. It'll be just like when we were kids and traveling route 66 and staying in Rolla Mo... Or Cuba, MO

Remember those old Hotels ?

What fun..

They won't mind a few changes as people rearrange. If you any of you needs some help, please don't hesitate to send me a PM and I will also try.

<set confused on>
The nice lady at Tan-Tar-A told me today, when I called, that it was something called 'the estates' that had the $89 price, but was still part of a multi-bedroom house-type setup. Each BR has a private bath.

I can't correlate what she said and what you are saying.
<set confused off>

Can we ask TTA to throw us together in a villa with other people, and let them sort it out? I'm not sure what "the estates" is at this point. I just know it's not 'the complex', and it's still $89 and that's cool.

We are both speaking about the same thing. If you are in a standard room in the estates you will be in a unit with others. Like adjoining hotel rooms, both (or all) parties have a door and if all agree they can open it up like a single unit.

Hopefully this makes sense.

I think the Villa's are the suites with rooms attached, and the Estates are just rooms without any kind of common area...

I'm fairly certain I'm booked in the Estates...

JohnThanks John and Randy,

Guess I'm not so confuzzed at this point. I reread your post, and the email received today from the CCR Team. Bottom line is I took Randy's advice and opted to switch to the estates/villas/batcave/whatever they want to call it. Same price, better accommodations!

The only downside I'm wondering about -- help me out here -- is having my young, impressionable passenger staying in a house with people she doesn't know, and of different... what's the word here?... approaches to life. I don't want to be in a setting with an all-night party crowd is another way of saying it. As I understand it, each BR in the villas/estates has a separate outside entrance and that may be sufficient to allay my modest concern.

Maybe we Ohioans could get together and get a couple of 5- or 6-BR units close together. We'll be over last week's big loss to FLA by then and ready to resume our modest vacation-mode behavior. (oh wait, that means Joe might be nearby. Scratch that... :D )

I'll start another thread on this topic, if that makes sense. Randy, is that possible? (i.e., to ask TTA to group people together into a house?)

Randy, et al,
Thanks :thumb: when I told the reservationist I'd made reservations for CCR, she knew exactly why I was calling, likely due to all of you 'paving the way'. While technically this is the second CCR we've registered for, it will be the first (pray that nothing quite as 'eventful' happens as last year) we'll be attending. Really looking forward to a fun reunion and meeting all you folks!!
