OK, I have the "POI Downloader" from the Garmin website, and have googled the sh** out of POI sites and come up with just about nothing worthwhile, except for some options that are fairly pricey.

Anyone have POI/waypoint internet sites (compatable with Garmin 2730), or software they'd be interested in (COUGH) sharing, or information?

huh, do ya, huh?

Pete,

Garmin and others a selling us on an ability the GPS units have that has not even really gotten underway. POI's will be driven by the user communities and as such will take some time for the GPS market to mature and then only when advocates get involved and start will POI's with real value start to show up in a meaningful way.

I understand in Europe they are more popular but again it will be a user based push system.

The only POI files I have downloaded are the BMW dealers from this site -

Tony

have a look here http://www.maft.co.uk/garmin/news.htm but they are all UK ;-/

SPeed cameras have driven the use of POI in this country and others have latched on as it is fairly simple for A UK company to list all their locations and release it as a POI.

Can you make your own POI with the software? then make on for Catfish and Hard 8 in your area ;-))

Now that I have the silly serial/USB cable (thanks, eBay) I can now create POIs and load into Garmin.

The silly GPS, according to Garmin Tech Support, does not have a way to get lat/lon information from recent addresses or address book. You have to write it down in real time and use computer to create POI for upload.
