Took my 06 RT out for a ride Saturday. Got to a place where I could use the cruise control, but it wouldn't work. I recently installed the promotional Nav III GPS on the bike. I thought I had seen a thread saying the Nav III was interfering with the cruise control, but I was unable to find it. I'll probably disconnect all the cables from the GPS (and mount) and try the cruise control again today. Anybody have any other ideas? Thanks.

How do you have the NavIII connected to the bike?

Nav III is connected to bike using BMW supplied y-harness and BMW cradle for Nav III.
I removed the Nav III and cruise control works fine. I re-installed the Nav III and cruise control no longer works. It doesn't make any difference if the Nav III is turned on or not, if it is installed the cruise control doesn't work.

Found this thread on the BMWNA public message board:
"HI again, SUCCESS with the cruise issue!!! disconnecting the white wire (center of three, red/white/black) in the Nav III harness connector restored cruise to proper operation with Nav III connected and in use. From what I have been able to learn so far, this wire carries a "speed sensor" signal, possibly used as an input for a radar system used on the RTP. Anyhow, it appears that it is an uneeded input for the Nav III. I suggest carefully cutting wire with thought towards later repair/reconnection should there be issues later. A small piece of heat shrink tubing with sealer covering both ends of the cut wire is a simple job. I'm still curious how this one got by BMW/Garmin ?!? It's my nature to want to know EXACTLY why this happens. Will post again if any issues arise from the cut wire."
I haven't tried this but plan to.

Oh Dag! Sorry Charles. Somehow I missed replying to you. :o
Yes, the speed sensor wire is what screws up the cruise control. Let me know if you get the problem solved or have any other questions. I'll try not to ignore you next time. ;) (They don't call me the Village Idiot for nothin'!)
