Saw a building maintenance guy using one of these last week and thought it looked like something that might be worth sticking in the tool bag - http://www.botac.com/pevb3ledli.html
Not super bright, but would be useful when working in a dark spot, in a shadow of your work lights, or on the side of the road....
But when snooping around on the site I saw this - http://www.botac.com/earlight.html

Why not just spend $9 for one of those LED lights that strap to your head? Can pick them up at WallyWorld.

You could go totally hands-free: Bluetooth earbud on one side, the ear light on the other. :D

We are Borg...resistance is futile. Get too many gadgets on your head and you will be "assimilated".

Ass-imilated indeed. I'd like to have an LED surgically implanted in the middle of my forehead. A third eye to lighting nirvana.

Yeah, and then you'd wanna upgrade it to an HID!!!!!!!! :histerica
Over in China-Mart's sporting good section is a display of various lights, flashlights, Mag-Lites, etc. They have one of those headband LED types that actually hurts your eyes to look at (course I guess if you had it on and saw it, your head would have to be inside-out!! hee hee).

I like the Quiqlite LED flashlights. They can slide on to your shirt pocket, or slide it into the clip holster and clip onto a belt, hat, or whatever. More info on their products at their web site (http://quiqlite.com/index.html).
I met Brian (proprietor) at the IACP conference in Boston a few months ago. He's a pretty sharp guy who just took the plunge, hung up his shield and retired to devote full-time to his inventions. After using the sample light he gave me at the conference, I ended up ordering a bunch of them and gave them out to my officers over the holiday season.
Other than being a satisfied customer, I have no affiliation with Quiglight.

I started researching LED flashlights about a year ago, wanting good bright ones. At the time about the brightest thing you could get were the lights with multiple 5MM leds in them, still not quite what I wanted. Then I found a flashlight forum, and started watching the LED section. HOLY COW, there are some real fanatics out there! I was absolutely amazed how much money some people were spending making custom LED lights. Then Streamlight and a few others started making 3 watt models, but they were over $100. I held out until Maglite finally came out with conversions, so I upgraded all five of my 2 and 3 D cell with their 3 watt LEDs. these are MUCH brighter than their best krypton halogen bulbs. Now you can get Maglite LED flashlights off the shelf. Highly recommended. I also got a Maglite 3AA LED light. I have about 4 Sam's Club 3AAA 1 watt ones around the house too, the first LED lights I purchased. Not an incandescant portable light of any kind left, all LEDs now.
If anyone has a 2,3, or 4 cell Maglite, get the upgrade LED for it, you won't be disappointed. they are about $19 at most Wal Marts.
As for the headlights, I have one I got from Radio Shack that I use for reading in bed at night when I don't want to disturb the wife. It has three LEDs, and three brightness settings. Still marginal for working though. I am planning to get at least a 1 watt one for working. There are some of these on the market now. A 1 Watt LED is about minimum for doing any real work in my opinion.
If I still had the bike I would be looking at making LED aux. lights using Luxeon 5 watt modules. I think a light with 3 or 4 of those with the proper lenses would be amazing. I was thinking a bar of them under the chin of the LT would really put out some light.
I think you will be seeing LED headlights on cars within the next 3-5 years. They are being tested now, cooling is the biggest problem. Many manufactures are already going to LEDs for exterior and interior lights other than headlights.

I have that one. It works fairly well but not great. Had it for 2+ years now and still on the same battery. When I put the head band on, my wife says I am wearing a head thong. It's always good for a laugh.

My wife got a couple of the small hand held 4 or 5 lites. It has a hand crank on it that you turn for about 1-2 minuets and gives you about 1/2 hr of light. No batteries at all. I gonna keep it in the boot of the Lt.
