I picked up a GS yesterday. I posted the specifics in the Northwest forum here (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17654).

I guess that means I will need to frequent this part of the forum on a regular basis from now on :).

Sounds to me like you got a great deal, on a well equipped machine. Enjoy it safely for miles of smiles :D

Congratulations, yea, the GSpot over on advrider is a good site. Also check out www.r1200gs.info, but you have probably been all of these places already.

Yeah, being an engineer I tend to study things to death. I don't know how many reviews I read and my GS related browser bookmarks are nearing the 100 count . That said I also always appreciate good advice :thumb:. Thanks!

Congrats. It is a superb bike. If only one bike to have, a strong case could be made for the GS.

I'm not yet considering myself a GS rider since my '07 Desert Yellow Metallic was wrecked by a cage zombie within 1/4 mile of the dealership.

You will not be sorry. The 12GS is an excellent all-arounder and the best bike I have ever owned. 'Course, that's just one mans opinion.

You guys are making me green with envy. My GSA comes the first week of February, but we still have 2 feet of snow on the ground, so I think it might be a month or so before I am actually able to ride it. Ron

It has been icy and cold here for 4 or 5 days and I haven't been able to ride. But we don't get a discount on our insurance like you do up north. ;)

It used to be that we got a break on our insurance because of winter, but we know pay an annual fee and are insured all year. So much for a price break.
