Hi, all,

I am thinking about upgrading my venerable 2610 to the new and hot 2820.

To those who already have it installed: could you tell me some of its features? I downloaded Garmin's manual, but it is very poor and does not answer my questions.

1. Does the 2820 have a map mode like the older 26xx units? That is, I am looking to see a map of surrounding area (at selectable scale), with a symbol for myself traveling through it. The promotional pictures show "bird's-eye" view, i.e., several next intersections as seen slightly from above current position.

I have this in my Streetpilots i-series; that mode is good for street-to-street navigation, but I do not like it for long-distance travel. Real map representation is much better, IMHO.

2. I have motorcycle brackets for the 2610 in multiple vehicles. Does the 2820 use the same mount and same connections? What about the audio-out plug on the old-style harness? Still functional?

3. What is the memory storage capacity for the MP3 player? Does the output also come out of the harness or out of the audio port?

Thanks in advance, Robert.
