I was on my way to our weekly club breakfast out in the Texas Hill Country (deer central). Had my 10 year old granddaughter Courtney on the back. We just came outa some nice twisties onto a 2 mile or so straight away. running about 75mph. Courtney was sound asleep on the back when out jump Bambi from thin air!!!! Whamo her head hit my right mirror and took it clean off .We were very lucky she was only about 50 lb's and we didn't go down.We turned around to pick up the broken mirror (now in 3 pieces) and drag the deer off the road. Atleast 3 cages passed and none even slowed down to see if we were ok!!! So please keep 2 things in mind. First watch out for "Bambi" becouse they are out there. Second if you see a bike on the side of the road with flashers on at the very least slow down!!!! We got lucky yesterday and was able to ride away. Heck now Courtney has a great story to tell her classmates. BTW we did make it to breakfast and was only 10 min late. :D It was great to break bread with Dick (Dick)and Grif (grifscoots) again!!

Here are some pics

That was a close call, I'd say you got real lucky on that one! Glad you and your granddaughter came through unscathed.

A number of years ago I took a class on "outlaw motorcycle gangs" that included pics of a guy who had modified straight handlebars of an old OLD harley to include a sawed-off shotgun, trigger mechanism on his throttle side, so that he could shoot anything that the left grip was "covering"

I'm thinking it's time to fabricate dual 12-ga. remingtons on either side of the LT fairing, preferably the semi-auto version (we'd have to put the left side ejecting model on the left side, 'natch) and rig up a trigger mechanism for the handlebars.

Bambi appears, a little lean, hit the aux switch, unload with 12 combined rounds of 00-buck, and all you have to worry about is the slick spot you ride over.

Hell, a year from now, we could all have a gallery of mounted "racks" on the back of our topcases, kinda' like sporting lodges over the mantleplaces...

Glad you and Courtney are ok Steve! That would have put a damper on my appetite... I guess now you can put one of those little deer stickers on the side of the tupperware - 4 more and you're an ace! ;)

Sounds like you guys have another good breakfast place.

Awww, geez, Steve... glad you and Courtney are okay!

I don't know what we can do about this "deer" problem, but I don't think killing 'em with LT's is the best way we could do it...

And we could enlist Ari's help to make this sytem auto-tracking, kind of like the Navy's Phalanx anti-missile system. Maybe it could be tweaked for cats and other varmints.
