I just wanted to make sure that the GPS connection on the 06LT is fused. I have discovered that I can plug the soldered bare wire from my Zumo power cord directly into the power cord of the BMW GPS connector. I makes a nice snug fit. I just need to be able to shorten the Zumo power cord which means cutting out the fuse. I bought my LT used and did not get an owners manual (it has been ordered) so I can not check to make sure this point is fused. HELP Don

Why can't you reinstall the fuseholder after you shorten the wire?

The main reason being I was trying to keep from removing the tupperware and the fuse holder would not go down through the hole under the GPS mount. I can't get the BMW connectors and the Zumo fuse under the mount cover. Don

Can't remember the fuse no., but it is fused. It should show it in the manual.

Pop open the seat, there's 2 fuse boxes under the front edge of the passenger seat. It's the #8 fuse (bottom outside fuse) in the left box. Should be a 4 amp. fuse. That's on an 05, should be the same. Pull the fuse & check for power at the plug. I used that fuse to power my J&M, I went straight to the battery for my GPS, wanted it to stay powered up when I stop.

But if the only thing that's protecting that GPS is a 4A fuse, the unit will fry long before that fuse blows.

If you blow any fuse you GPS is toast.
A fuse is to protect you bike wiring.

A fuse is to protect you bike wiring. So you're saying that the 1A inline fuse on Garmin's motorcycle power cable is there for the sole purpose of protecting the wiring itself? I respectively disagree.

4 amp is what's in there, if you use that circuit I don't think there is a law against changing it to whatever your gadget needs.
