I went to the BMW of Atlanta's Christmas Open House today. :) Great turn out with lots of bikes and people there. Bob provided lunch and Demo rides. I had a great time. :yeah:
I finally rode the GT. :thumb: :yeah: :D  It's got gobs of power, fantastic acceleration and is a blast to ride. :D But, I don't think it will replace the LT as a long distance bike, at least not for me anyway. The riding position is a little bit too aggressive for 1000+ mile days. I didn't get to adjust the bars or play with setting it up, as there was a line of people waiting to ride. I really could learn to love this bike, but I need to take it on the road for a few days to see how I'd adjust to it.
I gotta admit that I'm really in love with the Fat Lady (LT). She's so soft and cuddly on the road and can be a sprinter in the wisties. :bmw: However, she's got a temperament when slow or stopped. :o Nevertheless, I've learn to live with her temperament over the past 4 years.
Now, if we could just get BMW to put the ole lady on a leetle diet and pump her up with that new K engine. Boy, that'd be sumptin to see and have. Oh well, we can always dream, right? :histerica But, if I ever hit that big Lotto, there'll be a GT keepin' tha Fat Lady company in the garage. :sun:

They are neat, aren't they?
Hide and watch, I keep saying you'll see the LT morphed out of the GT. I do have my detractor's on that statement.

I am hoping you are right. That would be my bike! Liked the GT muchly, but the LT still holds a warm place in my heart, even though I have not had one for two years now. :(

Me too, I'm with David on that one. I hope you are right Grif. That would be one really nice bike.

Dick,
The riding position on the GT is different. But, I was used to it within a few miles. The GT definitely needs some custom saddle work done, however. Especially for those 1000 mile days!
It's so much fun to ride that's it's very contagious. I wouldn't be surprised if one finds a way into your stable.

Hi Dick:
You can always sell the garage queen to me and buy that GT. You know which one I am talking about.

Naw , don't think so, were married till death do us part! :D I love the Queen (1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertible, for those who don't know) more than anything I've ever been given or purchased on my own. She was given to me by my Mom and Dad when I was 16.5 years old (May 1964) and we've been together for 42.5 years. She's been in retirement since 1973, after 108,000 miles, and had a facelift (frame off restoration) in 2004.
But, thanks anyway. :)

Hey,
I was at the open house for a little while in the morning. I didn't demo anything but I did think about it. It sure was great weather to be out riding. I was on my Valkyrie so I didn't quite fit in with the BMW folks. :)

Class of '65 . . . COOL! That was the year I was born. :D My dad owned that exact car, 'cept it was blue. :thumb:
Suffered through 400 miles of GT ownership yesterday. Met up with the new owner of my ol' LT. Then we rode and met Howard Schisler. Two LTs and a GT. Good times. If I was a rich rich man, I'd still own an LT. It's still the only choice when compared to the GoldWing or RoadKing.

Observations:
Your car is sweet...do you know how much $$$ that car would get you in L.A., or here in El Paso. It's a fact that the hispanic kids dig those ragtop impalas.
I was ONE year old when that high school pic was taken. Where are you Dick in that pic? Hubba hubba on the hood ornament. It amazes me how different high schoolers looked back then from today. AND...98% of the kids are FIT & TRIM in that pic. Today...not so much at all! I'll bet those were the days.

All bikers fit in, Glenn. Well, almost all. I've seen a few that probably wouldn't fit in anywhere (not because of what they were riding). I noticed that there were several Harleys there, also. You shoulda demoed one them thar new BMWs, it was fun.
