I am thinking about the upgrade for my Garmin Street Pilot III. I am using V5 and keep it updated. Is the latest version 8 worth the extra $$$. I know it would give me updated maps, are there any other good points to it? I have read that the maps are quite a bit bigger and I don't want to cause myself a memory problem. I know I should probobly get a newer GPS but I am happy with the SP III. I am using the 256 mb card.
Happy Holidays!!!!and Thanks in advance.

why don't you call Garmin's customer service...besides the likely 20 minute wait, I imagine it won't cost anything if your unit can accept the upgrade.
if not...if you can find what you need to find with what you have, and as you said, you're happy with what you've got, then more power to you--fight the "man" and don't upgrade!

Yes, the maps come in larger chunks with V8, but take a look at the attachment. All of that will fit on your 256MB card.
