After having 3 (count 'em, three) iPods fail completely on me, I opted to pick up a new Zune. So far, so good - it actually works as advertised.
Problem is, it's so new that there aren't a lot of accessories out there as yet. Has anyone tried integrating a Zune to one of the aftermarket adapters? I'd love to take the 6 disc CD changer out of the bike and be able to hook up the Zune with full handlebar controls.

Part of your problem is always going to be that it's not an iPod. That is the reason I bought an iPod. There's a bazillion of them out there, so accessories are plentiful.

Sorry to hear about the back luck with your iPods. The three I have work flawlessly. And we'll probably be buying a 4th real soon.

I've just bit the bullet - after a couple of years of having a 20 G Sony NW1, which I've used all over the world, I've finally just bought a 30gig video pod - just because of the available accesories - Sony - far better system, sound quality A++, battery life A++++ (in excess of 35 hours) - pod = crap on most counts, but the accesories are good - I've got a radio remote for it which is brill on the bike. Remember BETA v VHS .

And part of my solution is that it's not an iPod. A bazillion iPods (or anything, for that matter) add up to a huge pile of crap if you can't get one to work for longer than the warranty period, no matter how many accessories are available.
I'm hoping that with Microsoft being the force behind the Zune, support from the aftermarket can't be too far behind. After all, there aren't too many accessories and add-ons for Windows compatible computers..... :-)

I've had two iPods (G3 and G4) which don't freeze. No problems. The only reason I bought a second one was because my wife wanted one.

We've had the G3 for about three years now and the G4 for about 2 years. Again, no problems and I've had both on my motorcycles for 10s of thousands of miles. Again, no freeze ups and no problems. I don't know why you've had problems. One note. I don't connect mine to my handlebars. Some people do and theirs do die.

Wonder why your iPods die? Ours has hit concrete lots, been used and abused, is a 3 year old hand-me down from my son who wanted the newest small one.

You work near massive EFI or RFI?
