I asked the same question a few weeks ago. The overwelming responce was the " Accugage" Dial type with the 12 inch hose That is the one I told my SO I wanted for christmas also

Yeppir - I'll second that recommendation. I've got four of those thangs (they make great joy gifts) and they are all spot on when I check 'em against one another. BTW - get the leetle rubber cushion that surrounds the gauge body, JUST in case you might drop it somehow - damhik!!

I bought a talking tire gauge at CCR that I absolutely love. At the RoadGear (http://www.whitehorsepress.com/product_info.php?cPath=4_50_107&products_id=3398) booth. Paid more than $20 for it, IIRC. Found what appears to be the same one at RadioShack for a whole lot cheaper. In fact, it's bilingual!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2131153&cp=&origkw=tire&kw=tire&parentPage=search)! :D
FWIW, I compared my RoadGear gauge to my tech's AccuGauge and it was dead on. And mine works better when it's too dark to read the gauge. ;)

I bought a digital from Sears on sale several years ago, a right angle one that is very easy to use on the LT. Think I paid less than $10 for it, works very well. Still have it in the car.

I have used pressure caps from JC Whitney for years on all my bikes - if the pressure drops below the set point, they turn red. If the pressure is good, they're green. Cost - less than $10, and I never have to bend over to see them.... :thumb:

Careful. Some of those pressure caps have been known to leak, causing the exact situation that you're trying to avoid.
And the SmarTire (http://www.smartire.com/products/motorcycles/index.html) works for me as well. It recently alerted me to a low-pressure situation while I was on the highway at speed, so that I could pull over at a safe location and patch a small hole from a staple I'd picked up.

Love my Smartire, and Brett Donahue is known to give group discounts.

I had those style pressure caps on my LT at one time. After the second 0-ring went south at STC this past year and I ran most of the day 2 up on about 6 pounds of air pressure, I said never again. I have the small black tire pressure gauge from Roadgear. Dead accurate with the tire hot and at any altitude.

I like toys too, but my pressure caps have been bulletproof for my last six bikes, 5 cars, and two travel trailers. None have ever leaked on me. Just don't buy the plastic ones...

Ah, metal caps. That makes sense.

How do the metal ones indicate low pressure?
