View Full Version : Cee Bailey's +6+3 versus a +5+3

I've had a CB +6+3 installed for over 10K miles now and really like it. But there are times when I could probably use a shorter shield. (Especially when traveling in triple-digit speeds. http://www.k-bikes.com/forums/images/smilies/ricky.gif The +6 tends to flex quite a bit.) So I bought a barely-used CB +5+3 shield from forum member 'Ricbob'. I gently laid the +5 up against my +6 and it's a full 2" shorter. I don't know if Cee Bailey's made my +6 too long, or this +5 is too short.
FWIW, my original CB +6+3 measures 28" long.
My new CB +5+3 measures 26" long.
My original OEM "tall" shield measures 24.5" long.

Call up Cee Bailey and ask them for the correct dimensions. You may have a "mismarked" windshield.

Sounds to me like you need to "step away from the ruler". None of those numbers make sense..........24.5" + 6" should = 30.5" / 24.5" + 5" should = 29.5".
The important issue, since you already like the one labled +6+3, is do you like the one labled +5+3 any better.

Jinks...you need to understand that my original shield is BMW's "tall" shield, which is 2.5" longer than the stock GT shield.
But you are correct on a certain level (and the reason for my post), is that some of these numbers do not make much sense. FWIW, my measurements are correct.
Having said all that, I am glad that I have both CB shields now. In the Spring, I will experiment with my new shorter shield. But for now, I'm thinking that I'll just keep both. It only takes two minutes to change the shield, so what the heck.
