I'll go for coffee - either place - no breakfast on the ride for me. Savin' room for Roger's Roadkill Chili and "Q" and Karla Kay's dessert tray.

We don't have to strike out at first light, since the gig doesn't start until 11:00. So maybe Blanco around 0830; leave Blanco at 9:30 or so and try to grab a good parking spot at Lone Star. Parking is gonna be way limited, cuz the lot next door is no longer empty - somebody built a bidness on it!

I think Bill Edwards is flyin' in Friday evening so can make the Open House Satiday. If so, he'll prolly do coffee or breakfast with us.

BTW - don't forget to brung one or two canned food items for Lone Star's charity donation.

BTW #2 - Friday *$$ gig is gonna be another cold one (freeze warning maybe), butt me and Toad'll be there. Leon Springs shoppe.

Howdy Dick,

Taking a break...checking in...Not sure what my plans are yet....
Saturday are you all meeting at BBA...I just might show up ??
Will ping you thursday...
Poor bike has not been out in this crazy cold...I got the biker cabin fever.

We LTer's up here could save Preferred LT Parking...Just Idea...?
last year I only saw about three LT's in the parking lot.

Chuck Dudley a friend of mine just purchased a 2006 silver LT in Houston.
He is going to get it this weekend...
One more for our team....chuck rode up to Blanco for the 2nd big sunset showing....He was the guy driving the old 900/6 boxer I restored for him.

Good point. What is it? About 45 miles to my house, times a few emergency pit stops, equals crumbs and a crumpled bag. Don't stand a goat's chance at round up with this crew.

You're right about that. You won't even see the crumpled bag, let alone the crumbs.

Jerry just remember parking will be at a premium on Saturday. Now there is a big shopping center across the street from Lonestar but.... you'll have to play "FROGGER" to cross a very busy 4 lane road :D

Our forcast is a high of 50* and rain. It's a 2 1/2 hour ride and if I leave in the morning it will be in the 30's and rain. I am still planning on going but it might be a bit later. I just have to be home by 5:00ish so I can get dressed for my wifes company Christmas party that evening.

This sounds like my dilema, right down to the wife's Christmas dinner/party! (I was late one year 'cause of a leetle mc ride, dont want to do THAT again!) And I dont like cold mixed with rain. Just the thought of ice skeers me!

This is the kind of wx system that must drive the forecasters nutz!! I'm gonna play this one by feel - when I get up in the morning. If it's slickerish and cold and rainy, then I'm gonna take the truck to Universal City and pick up Edwards and maybe find a biscuit or sumpthin' in New Braunfels, then head on to the open house. If it is like it wuz this morning, then we're gonna scoot it to Blanco Bowling Alley and go from there. Either way, I'm not leaving the house 'til 0715/30 or so, and may throw a post here with whazzup.

Sure will be nice to see everyone again!

Sorry guys, next time. I left my casa and Mama kinda did not want me to go. We had the "discussion" about it and I wanted to go anyway. My main purpose was to see you guys and to get a helmet.
I left my house at 8:30ish and it was only a light rain and 36* Half helmet on my cabesa but I was warm. Got to Cuero (30 miles) and realized my walet was on my desk at home. Kinda upset anyway because Mama did not want me to go and did not want me to spend the money on a new lid right now. Anyway to keep peace in the family I turned back and came home. It was a short nice ride but the rain is like needles in my eyes. Gotta get a new helmet soon.

Maybe next year.

Man, I understand - course I would've never won the *disgustion* w/ my boss ! Glad you didn't get to far before membering that wallat thingy. I ran into a few folks there: Channing, Dick, Ron, and even Jim Swanzy :D!

Dick and I were talking about the next RTE, we need to head East where it's uh "Flat as a Pancake", so the Houstoners don't have such a long ride. So, see you next time!

Dick, being a true gentleman and schoolbus, true to his word and a good bud, dropped by my casa with some desert.... and rubbed salt in my bleeding heart seeing his happy face and knowing what a great time he had.

We've had a house full of people the last two days with five kid's under the age of six. I'm sitting here basking in a golden silence tonight. Relative's are great, but my biker relative's are the bestest.

Yeppir - I had a great time for ya, Bud. You enjoyed it!! :D When I wuz stealing the desserts, I had to 'splain why I wuz double-dipping (you know - one for Grif, two for me, etc! ), and when I mentioned your name, all the gals at the dessert table couldn't believe you weren't in attendance. I think if I'da axed for a gunny sack full of goodies, they'da pitched in and helped me fill it for ya!!!

Wuz a really good day, 'cept for that old phart in the cage that 'bout punted me over the Jersey barrier in San Marcos!! More on that later. I hit the Blanco Bowling Alley right at 0830; grabbed a table and ordered a cup. Realized I had left my crackberry on Toad, so snuck out the back and got it just about the time Bill Edwards rode up. We chatted for about an hour or more - me over a cup and an order of toast; him over water and some joking with our waitress. Got ready to roll to the Open House, and lo/behold, here comes the High Sheriff and all the EMT/Fire/Swat/Deputy vehicles leading Blanco's village parade. Sirens goin' off --- drag racing riding lawnmowers; theme floats; pet parade; hay wagons with young'uns throwing candy to the sidewalk crowd. Well, they weren't in any hurry and we were, so instead of pulling in behind 'em and trying to get over to TX165, we opted for 281 and 290 thru Dripping Springs and on to Lone Star.

Met up with:

Ron Kellenbenz (kellenbenz) from Tyler
Gary Walshire (diver54) Austin
Richard and Susan Kuethe (varoom) Dripping Springs
Jerry England (Lonewuff) from Houston
Alan Stuber (A.Stuber) Austin
Jeff Goodwin (zimbazi) Austin and friend Mary
Channing Fell (Cfell) and Phyllis, Austin
Chuck Wetzel (San Antonio)
Robert Krull and Peter Yeager (Lone Star's co-owners)
Hank and Sherri (Rhinewest in San Antonio)
Sloan Smith, Boerne
Steve and Sammie Shreeve (katnapinn) Austin
And lotsa folks whom I recognize, butt have CRS on names.

And Grif, btw --- for the third year in a row, I won a doorprize. And for the second year in a row, I couldn't use the prize item. This year, a really nice ballistic jacket with zip liner and CE armor, with lotsa pockets and vent flaps, etc. Size L - I'm XXL! :(

Cager --- I'm flyin' down I-35 in the fast lane and come up on an 18-wheeler who is NOT s'posed to be in that lane. I put on the Motolights and the PIAA 1100xs and he signals and moves over to his right. Apparently the old codger in the cage, in that lane, musta thought the semi' shouldn't have changed lanes in front of him, so he runs right up behind the semi' and begins to move left alongside me and into my lane. I'm running 10 over now, fixin' to pass the semi and get on down the road, cuz I don't like hanging around 18-wheelers. I checked the rear views to see what's back there in case I gotta git on the binders. Two Corvettes are back there watching the action; front guy flashes his lights to get the ole phart's attention; I'm alongside the cager's door and realizing that the gap 'tween him and the wall to my left is getting rather narrow. I twist ole Toad's throttle and we're outta there. That ole cager never moved right - just kept gradually moving left. I laid on the horn and dadgum - he quit moving left, butt he DIDN'T move back right either!! Half of him is in my lane and the other half still in the lane behind the semi!!! I'm clear of him, butt now I'm wonderin' what them Corvette guyz are in for, cuz he ain't in a hurry to pass the semi, what being in two lanes and all!! Well, I'm on down the road and here come the Vettes. Front dude pulls in ahead of me - back guy pulls in behind me. WTF???? I get a motion from the front guy to "follow me" and we ratchet up to about 20 over!! Egads and yikes!! I don't mind followin', butt I sure don't like being chased by his buddy! 'Bout three miles of this, and I see the exit 191 sign; give the Vettes the high sign that I'm gonna return to the sane lane and we all three give the air-hi-fives, and they're gone. I'm breathin' heavy, butt we've slowed to the access road and back to reality!! Right then, I 'bout pulled over and wuz gonna munch on your dessert to get calm!! Nixxed that idea, so the package wuz safe. Fun and games at the time, butt after the adrenalin wore off, I had a come-to-Jesus talk with myself and promised Toad we ain't doin' that no more. I still have the vision of the base of that jersey wall under the left handgrip!! I think me and Toad got lucky today!! :o

Congrats on winning the door prize! Sounds like the folks at LoneStar know how to throw a bash!

 Glad you're ok Dick! Nice of the 'Vettes to run interference for ya' ...

I had a sorta similar scare on the Turnpike near Tulsa on my way home from Hard 8, 'cept she just comin over! I barely got out of there in time and I was nearly scraping the concrete barrier at that - would've been ugly at 80+...

PS - you mind if I use the term crackberry? We carry 'em at work, and we do get addicted to them... ;)

and begins to move left alongside me and into my lane.

So, that wasn't a look of happiness, but the tail end of a nervous breakdown.

Next time try exiting Centerpoint to Hunter Lane to Hoffman to 306. Real purdy road that Hunter Lane with some nice sweepers. I call Hoffman roller coaster road!

Yeppir - you're right. Been so long, that I wuzn't sure where to pick it up goin' south. I used to run it north, in the Goat. I remember oncet, coming out of a client's driveway onto Hoffman, which hit the road at the bottom of a ravine - hilltop to my right and another to my left (sorta like at Luckenbach, by the bridge). No way to sight traffic until they crested the hilltops and then they were right on ya. My cell phone rang just as I wuz getting ready to chance it, so didn't move out. Lucky me, cuz two guyz in a drag race, side by side even, blew over the hill, down thru the ravine and back outta sight at the top of the other hill. I'da been using my cell phone (hopefully) for sumpthin' else, had I pulled out - even with 360 HP on tap.

BTW - next time you head to Lone Star, ping me and I'll get reacquainted with Hunter and Hoffman, with you in the lead.

Hey Bonesy, I got a white HJC full face, size large (7-3/8 to 7-1/2) you can have. It has only been worn a couple of times, and has a scuff or two, but other wise it looks good. Free por nada.

I had a great time. Good eats. Won a door prize, met some of the guys on the list finally, got warned about Dick by the owner of Lonestar, but introduced myself anyway :rotf:

I was impressed with their service department too. Sure puts the one I've been using to shame.

All in all it was well worth the trip and I will do it again...real soon.

Good time had by all by the sounds of it. Sorry I missed it, but am out here in Fresno, CA babysitting first new grandson. Almost as much fun, but I am starting to get withdrawal symptoms. Even brought all my gear with me.
Tried to get a test ride on a GT they had at Fresno BMW, but when they heard that I had a TX DL they weren't too keen. Prolly figured I wasn't going to buy from them real soon. :D Hopefully Lonestar will have one by the time I get back.
At least I will get to go to IMS in San Mateo with sons and son-in-law this coming weekend.
Miss you guys.
