1" Ball on stud for Mirror Hole Mount? WHERE???

I have read about them, heard about them, and even seen a picture of one, but...

Anyone know where I can find a simple straight bar with with a 1" ball on the end that fits in my K1200 handle bar mirror mounts. All I want to do is mount my GPS with it...cheaply and simply.

I have looked and even CycleGadgets said "We use a reservoir plate system to mount devices on the K12LT. From there it attaches to a Ram system for your device." Though I have nothing against the many various mounts, and even prefer some of them, I don't feel like spending another $84 for the mount, then $14 for the plate, then....

Go to rammount direct, they do a ball on a length of threaded bar, which you can use.

I' have the same thing on my bike, and just fitted a nut and washer on the bottom to mount my camera and my gps on the other side.

That seems too short.

I thought there was one with about a 2-3" stud...I swear I just sent 45 minutes at RAM Mounts -- great seachable web site, but I still can't find it. Either I am an idiot or blind or it isn't there.

The technical term is "mirror boss" for the hole you are describing. Keep in mind they are different lengths depending on whether you have the push-to-talk button. I got mine from Raffy at http://www.motogear4you.com/ but I am not sure RAM makes them anymore. He still has them listed on his site. I know there is another company that does but with a 3/4 inch ball. The brand escapes me but Raffy would know.

The one I had, you could remove the thread, and I put in a longer bar. Don't know if I have the sales receipt anyplace, it woul dhave a part number on it. I'll atke a peek and post if I find it.

Hi , I took a 5" long 1/2" stanless steel bolt , and bored a 3/8" hole throught it ( end to end ) . To use as a spacer . Then I cut it to the leanth I wanted .
I used a RAM Mounts 272 ball , and put it all together with a 3/8 bolt to bolt it down to the mirror boss ( hole ) . Hope this is of Help ...Patric ...

Ok, I have one of the mirror mount balls that I got from someone here...
And here's the deal... When you clamp a ram arm on it it blocks some of the view of the mirror, ( at least for me ) Now having said that there's a place in Texas that sells one that has a small metal piece on top of the mounting stud that offsets the ball about an inch ( I think ) over the clutch/brake res..This would get the ram arm out of the line of site of the mirror... I think they're about 18.95 or something like that..

I've lost the link to that site from my favorites but I'm sure someone will chime in with the dealer who sells these... Meanwhile I'll keep looking for the link...

I also have one that is mounted to the Brake resevoir and that's way better than the mirror hole mount one because it completely gets out of the line of sight to the mirror...If you can stand to drop the money, that's really the way to go.. But eventually you'll find something else that you'll want to mount and you'll be back to the mirror hole again...DAMHIK:histerica

I have the mounts you are describing and if you want I'll try to search back and find where I got them. However, whatever you mount on them will severely interfere with your mirror useage. Break down, like I did, and get the reservoir covers with the 1" ball mounts from Raffy. You wont regret it.

I have the ZTechnik mounts that go in the mirror holes they don't interfere and they work quite well, I know most people use the RAM mounts but I like the other ones better.

Saeng's the name of the company I got the mounting hardware for the mirror holes. High quality. I ordered the system to mount a GPS but the Clamping system was to long and vibration was a prob. Sent back everything except the actual threaded rods and bolt system and used them in the mirror holes now for somrthing totally diffferent. I just called them and told them what I wanted and they fixed me up.

As not even having enough mechanical ability to get the top of my can of back spray paint to paint a bolt black, and being to cheap to break down and buy the the cover for that thing that holds the stuff on my handle bar, thanks to you all, I have found the stud thing with a ball on the end that fits in my those holes on the things on my handle bars a ball on the end and have ordered it -- already painted black.

Thanks...but now that I have a can of black spray paint? I guess I can coat my oil Amsol oil filter with black paint to make sure the black lettering stays on after I change my oil -- I save by using the same stuff I use in my car -- and I hear that car oil will lube my dry clutch just as well. Or maybe I will paint my FARKLES, or RePLace mY Cupping tires. :)
