Hi,

In trying go install a new battery I broke the negative battery terminal. I didn't have time yet to take the old terminal off but I plan to dot hat tomorrow and head down to Home Depot or Radio Shack to find a replacement. It looks like the original terminal was soldered to the wires. What is the best way to get it off and is it best to solder the new one to the wires? Any other tips to help me replace the terminal?

Thanks,
Glenn

If it is solidered on and you can get it up and out a bit, I would try using a 100W+ solidering gun to heat it and see if you can pull it off. If it won't pull off you'll have to cut the wires and strip them for the new terminal. Myself, I would crimp them on for the mechanical holding, then I would solider them (rosen core, not acid) to help keep corrosion in check.
