The only REAL issue I had was the abrupt on/off of the throttle. The bike could not hold 2k rpm to save its life. It would just buck (on then off) when trying to hold a steady 2k. The minute I pulled out of the dealership I knew it was fixed. I can't beleive how much better the transition is. No more lurching forward whenever I let the throttle off (regardless of speed) and it rolled back on just a smooth as can be. I verified it's ability to loft the front tire in second gear with nothing but a snap of the throttle, so it has not affected it's get up and go. I didn't realize until it was fixed just how much of a pain this was while shifting, etc. I can roll through a school zone at 20 in second gear now just as smooth as silk.

Now a second "issue" this is supposed to fix was the fuel gauge accuracy. I think I also have an improvement there as well. My light would always come on about 150-160 miles, then count down. When I hit zero I could stop and fill and still have a gallon in the tank. When I arrived home tonight I was at 185 miles with no light. It has never made it to that without the light - ever.

There are many things this update is aimed for and it will work on GT's built prior to 03/06 (which 7.0.1 would not) all the way to current 07's.

I sat with the tech and watched the update (took about half an hour.) Along with all the other stuff it claimed, it recalibrated the idle sensor (failure to idle was another issue it's to fix) as well as the TPS (tech had to cycle the throttle through its range while the computer watched.) When all was said and done it claimed I had 12 more times that the computer could be updated (if you exceed that they can just change the EPROM, not the whole computer.)

I am VERY pleased with this outcome. I LOVE THIS BIKE.

There was some confusion about what the "part no." was for the 7.1 update. I think the number to be looking for with the 7.1 update is: ECU = 7705056
Both forum member 'rubenbar' and myself have that on our Final report.

According to my before and after report:

http://office.microsoft.com/global/images/default.aspx?AssetID=ZA011179361033BMS-K programmed : Old part no. of progr. ECU = 7701983;New part no. of progr. ECU = 7705056http://office.microsoft.com/global/images/default.aspx?AssetID=ZA011179361033BMS-K can still be programmed 12 times.

That looks right for the report I saw.
