Cool pics, Brings back lots of memories. I have never seen a B1-B on its belly before. But, I have seen one or two on their ass before. During their production/testing stage they used to have a fuel migration problem. I would come into work in the morning to find out fuel migrated from the foward tanks to the big aft tank.(the whole tail is a big fuel tank) and the nose was sticking up in the air and the tail was on the ground.

A 7500 foot skid! Wow, I bet that woke the crew up. But to put the $7.9 million damage in perspective, on a $285 million sled that's less than 3%. Tip over damage on our favorite two wheeler =)

Now, you'd think they coulda at least borrowed a farkle from the Brown Truck gang and put an altitude threshold, gear-down, warning for vertical instead of horizontal distance alerts.

I bet the "real" damage bill is way higher. I can't imagine that they did not have fod damage on all four engines. A 737 engine goes for over 6 mil and a 747 engine is over 10 mil a piece. Military stuff is rarely cheaper...
