Hbar/DonThe rooms at the host hotel are blocked. In order to get a room reservation you will need a Reunion registration. If you attended the 2006 reunion you should have gotten an email with a link to the preregistration. If not, you will need to visit www.curvecowboyreunion.com sometime after the first of the year.

Each year the reunion sells out several months prior to the event, so it is best to get your registration in as early as possible.

Since I've already been asked, I will be sending out confirmations with instructions to book hotel rooms just after the new year. The Hotel isn't quite ready for the onslaught, so I thought I'd give them a bit of a break. Keep your paypal receipts, and if you have any questions, just send it to questions@curvecowboyreunion.com

There was a small problem with the pre-registration screen. It has now been corrected, so if you had a problem registering earlier, please feel free to try again.

I see that registration has jumped $30 for 2007. I wonder what we get for that $30 this year? That's a 30% jump over 1 year and is quite a chunk as a percentage of last year. I would hope there would be considerable bells and whistles added for that kind of price increase.

So...to answer your question: A better location. How's that for bells and whistles? :D

I would hope there would be considerable bells and whistles added for that kind of price increase.Food and beverage alone has risen about 10% each year over the last three. We didn't change the registration fee in 2005 or 2006 causing a severe budgetary problem at the 2006 event. Each year we have improved the reception, meals and entertainment and I am certain next year will meet or exceed the quality we have offered in the past. We will probably not add more 'bells and whistles', but will strive to keep the quality of the event to the standards of any past event, while keeping room in our budget to pursue the charitable goals we created the organization for in the first place. Rather than looking at a 30% increase for 2007, we would see 2007 as representing the first increase in three years, with the cumulative increase representing about 10% per year.

We are quite aware that the cost of the event and of the rooms is an important consideration for many who would like to attend the event, but we also have to keep an eye toward making this the premiere Luxury Touring motorcycle event that sets the standard for hotel based motorcycle gatherings. We understand that each person has to weigh the costs of the event against what they can afford, but we will not compromise the quality of the event or decrease the charitable contributions generated by the event as a means of capping the registration fee.

This year, as in every year, the negotiated room rate in our block represents a substantial discount from the hotel's standard rate for that time of the year. The room rate savings alone will almost cover the registration fee over two nights stay.

We hope that everyone who attends the Reunion will continue to tell us that the registration fee represents a good value at the end of the event. We still struggle with the fact that there are far more people who want to attend the reunion than we can accommodate, resulting in a sold out event many months prior to each Reunion since the first one in 2000. While the first Reunion in Broken Bow was not constrained to a certain number of slots, the host Lodge was sold out several months prior to the Reunion. Since then we have run out of room every year, despite increasing the allowable attendance numbers each year.

Randy responded in general terms and explained it well, but I'll add some specifics to it ... As he mentioned, the Board discusses raising the cost of the event each year and voted for two years (05 and 06) to hold the line at $100/110 primarily due to the high costs of the rooms in Jackson and Georgia.

Because of the need to open registration well before menus are selected and other costs are well identified, event costs and budgets are established well before we really know what the event will actually cost. So only the experience of the volunteer event planners on your Board and the volunteer workers separates us from a great event and financial disaster each year.

In general terms, last year we took in $63k in registrations. Dinners Thursday and Friday ran about $48k. Merchandise sales pays for itself and usually makes us a little money. Other costs to run the corporation and the event total some 10k. $63 - 58 = $5k which is a little contingency money. The Silent Auction and the 50/50 generate the contribution to the charity along with whatever we can squeeze from the contingency.

Room costs are way down this year. Because of that, the Board elected to raise the cost of the event what we probably should have done the last three years and get the event costs back in line with 8-10% increases we've all seen in our own budgets. Depending on how costs work out once our menus are selected and budgets are determined, we may have some money left for the charity or for a few bells, but probably no whistles.

And look at it this way, part of the registration gets you a one in a few hundred chance at a brand new BMW motorcycle if you attend. As the immediate past chairman of the event, I'll take being able to make an even larger donation to a charity that can help a lot more local kids and a good shot at a new moto for myself over a whistle any day.
