Bought a "battery eliminator (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7574334719)" on eBay. No more dead batteries. $25 to my door, what a bargain! I did have to install a GLI cable to get rid of the noise though. :(

FWIW, I bought the ICOM from Raffy @ http://www.motogear4u.com/. :)

Ground Loop Eliminator .... DO TELL ????Ground Loop Isolator (http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2062214). One of the few things that RadioShack carries worth buying. You can find them cheaper elsewhere, but their's is a quality unit. You'll probably need to buy some other adapters and/or 'roll your own' cable, but that's not a big deal.

No batteries are always a good thing. I did the same concept, but made my own converter using a standard voltage reducer and a few resisters for ~$1.19.

The first power converter I did for my bike was for my video camera (http://kc6tew.com/mods/videopower/videopower.htm (http://kc6tew.com/mods/videopower/videopower.htm)).

I just finished a power converter for my XM (Santa is bringing I hear), and my Kenwood GMRS radio. An additional side benefit is the wire that snakes around the bike is around 30 gauge (very thin), and very very low voltage so running up my handle bar covers, etc. is easy. Once I finish, I will post the details along with part numbers, etc. I purchase all my stuff at www.halted.com (http://www.halted.com/), a local electronics store.

Joe,
The Loop Isolator comes with phono type connectors, do you just cut these off and either hard wire or use a different type of connector? Also, the phono leads are red and yellow (?), can I assume that the red leads can be the positive and use the yellow for the negative connections?

Or am I misunderstanding your question?

No, I was assuming that it was for the power side, not the audio side. Thanks for your reply.
