Enjoyed your most recent book as I have enjoyed all of your books. It is a pleasure to read the thoughts of a person that thinks with clarity.

Via the furthest reaches of my imagination, I can't imagine why Neil would join a predominately LT-based forum. ADVrider, much more likely.

FWIW, been a RUSH fan since the late 70s.

I like Neil's writing style. I don't recall feeling excluded as a "road rider" vs "off road". Neil kept "getting in my head" while reading.... expecially in his personal experiences of the "Ghost Rider".

He speaks from life... as does "Rush".... which I also have enjoyed since the 70's..

What an intriguing title for a thread.

I'm halfway through Chemistry (http://www.helterskelterbooks.com/item.asp?id=3573) by Jon Collins, a thoroughly interesting biography of Rush. It actually made me create a Rush playlist on my iPod, in chronological order of course, for my upcoming ride back to SoCal. The only problem is that there are more albums out than hours on the road south. Plus the various live albums as well. Guess I'll just have to find somewhere else to ride until it's all played out. :)

I've read Ghost Rider by Neil, and have Traveling Music but haven't read it yet. Still need to pick up The Masked Rider and ooh! they've just released Roadshow. Is it Christmas yet?

Cool, Channing. It seems like maybe Neil is getting more comfortable doing interviews in his old age. :) Of course, he was in his two favorite comfort zones, seated on a bike or in a drum kit.

Came across this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53O3kklWZws) a few months ago, very cool. Rush brought me out of the dark ages where music is concerned.

Youtube has a lot of good Rush videos, including the Tom Sawyer Video which is set in a recording session scene in the snowy mountains somewhere. It is pretty cool. All I could think was that they were definitely making history right then. Some good concert footage too. Just type Rush in the search window.

Neil is pure genius when it comes to the drums. I have patterned my kit on his (except I play Premier vs. DW). I have all his books, even all the Andrew MacNaughtan prints of him at work. The guy is a great lyricist as well. Quite insightful. If he does stop here, I hope he posts. Id love to have his input.

I always LOVE seeing a gathering of Neil Peart fans, and/or RUSH fans in general. But I would be doing all of you a disservice if I didn't point you in the direction of Dream Theater. Most of you may already be aware of the band. But for those of you who are not familiar, I urge you to take a serious listen. (Casual listeners need not apply. :)) I have every Dream Theater CD on my iPod and find it mandatory listening on each and every road trip that I take. What RUSH did for the 70s and 80s, Dream Theater did for the 90s and the new millennium.

Begin with 'Images and Words' and 'Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory', and go from there. All the best...

I will have to check them out. I tend to be slow on the music scene. Shoot, about ten years ago, I really didn't know that Pink Floyd did many other songs than "Another brick in the wall" until a buddy turned me on to some of their other songs.

What planet was I living on before then?

Dream theater was pretty good in concert. If you think Neil has a drum set . Dream Theaters is OBSCENE!!! (in a good way) The whole concert I was just in awe and tried (and failed) to count the different pieces of equipment.

Rush on the other hand is in my top 3 all time concerts. It is always a pleasure, and it is rare, to see a band that sounds as good live as they do on their recordings. PLUS seeing Geddy (sp?) Lee play a keyboard and guitar at the same can not be missed.

The only downside to the concert was on the way home my wife confessed that the encore song was the only one she recognized ( after 2 hours of music) and it was of course... Tom Sawyer!

I was just poking around on a Toronto Radio station website (Q107), and found an interview with Rush about their upcoming album, Snakes & Arrows. It's always weird to hear Neil's actual voice, especially since I've been devouring his books lately. Geddy and Alex also chime in for a bit. The link is here (http://www.q107.com/media/?id=cilqfm&category=Interview). Look for the Snakes & Arrows World Album Premiere Teaser clip.

This summer will be the summer of Rush. New album tour yippee. I preordered the new cd. Nad have 4 tickets for the show in CT at the casino. I have seen them just about everytime they have come thru CT since the 80's. Amzing concert everytime. I am currently reading roadshow and have read ghost rider. Can't say enough good about them. I was watching a Red sox game the othernight when they were playing the Blue Jays in toronto and the fan of the game was Geddy. Pretty cool. I would love to ride with Peart someday. Just to say I did.

I just got back from seeing Rush in L.A. Absolutely awesome show, and my friend managed to score pit tickets so I was >this close< to Geddy, with a great view of Neil and Alex. :yeah: But I didn't manage to hook up with Neil and his GS on my ride home. :( ;)

Neil has always been one of my favs.. Stole a lot of licks from him over the years.

People come up to me all the time and accuse me of playing either like Neil or like Steve Gadd, Depending on what type of music we're playing that nite.

Haven't seen Rush in years and years. They don't get to Oklahoma very often.

If any of you ever see him, Tell him Spence says hey.

I can smell the chicken from here. :rotf:"What's that Smell?" :histerica

I almost got the Henhouse shirt that Geddy threw, but it tipped off my fingers and my buddy caught it. No biggie, as he's as big a fan as I am.

BTW Joe, they did an awesome job on Freewill. ;)

I'm far from Neil, but I am at least the drummer and founding member of Poison. I too read Ghost Rider and loved it!

I have been lurking here and pondering the purchase of a GS. I have 5 bikes currently, 2 Triumphs, a Norton, a BSA and a Ducati. However, I am obsessed with the idea of picking up a GS.

Great forum here!
