View Full Version : How our seats work - and pricing.

I've had a lot of questions over the past few days - and here's a description of how our seats work during different types of weather/seasons:

1. Wanna' ride in cold, rainy weather with one of our seats? (below 50F)

Put the non-slip rain cover on. The perforated top cover of the seat, mesh, barrier and multi layer foam below will stay completely dry. Turn your heat on high/low The heat works exactly the same as OEM.

2. Wanna' ride in cold, dry weather?

Put the rain cover on OR ride with windproof pants to defeat the wind chill effect of the design, turn your heat on high/low.

3. Wanna' ride in mild, dry weather? (60 to 90F) This is the temperature range that 95% of motorcycling takes place in...

Wear armored Jeans or ventilated textile pants and cotton or micro fiber underwear. You'll have fresh, dry, ambient temperature air blowing on your butt and crotch all day long. "Like Butt-ahh."
When you park in sunlight the infrared reflecting properties of the vaporized aluminum coating on one side of the waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier fabric will keep the foam cores 30F cooler than a vinyl or leather seat. The top perforated cover NEVER gets hot. Ever had VSB? (vinyl seat burn) Not with our seat. Can't happen.

4. Wanna' ride in hot dry/humid weather? (90 to 115F)

Soak the seat with water from your water bottle, wear an armored ventilated pant and micro fiber underwear - NOT jeans and cotton underwear.

The perforated top cover and mesh will stay wet (the way it is DESIGNED to) for anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the temperature and humidity - the temperature drop of the air exiting the seat will be anywhere from 15F cooler in 85% humidity to 40F cooler in 10% humidity - and yes, we've measured it. This evaporative cooling effect is incredibly soothing - there is NOTHING like cold/cool air blowing on your butt on a scorching hot day. This effect will literally help to keep your core temperature in check for long periods of time. Keeping your core temperature stable will also allow you to remain more alert and relaxed.

The waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier fabric is the third layer in the seat - first is the perforated cover, second is the breathable mesh. ALL of the foam below the barrier fabric can NEVER get wet. Since the top three layers are made from 100% polyester, they can never ABSORB water - they are hydrophobic. Any water held in the top cover and mesh is dispersed in the air space BETWEEN the individual fibers and held in place by surface tension. With no way for water to be absorbed mold and mildew cannot occur. Water has absolutely NO effect on these layers and will not hurt them - even if soaked thousands of times. What if your seat is wet at the end of a long day, and you want it completely dry for the next morning? Pop it off, take it to your room and let it rest on the nose against a wall - it will be bone dry in the morning.

Depending on what your needs are there are several options/pricing for the LT:

$475.00 for the Driver built to KonTour Specification. BakUp back rests are available and I can price that for you as well. They are simply awesome - especially when rebuilt to KonTour Specification.

We can go a few different routes on the pillion depending on your needs. A simple recover to match is $350.00. Add $50.00 for the breathable mesh underlayment. ($400.00 total, great if you only use the pillion once in a while.) Add $75.00 more for the full KonTour Specification. ($475.00.)

The passenger trunk rest pad is $150.00 recovered. Any additional work there is overkill in my opinion - but once again the breathable mesh is nice, add $50.00. Full KonTour Spec add another $50.00, $250.00 total. If you ride serious distance with a passenger this DOES make a difference - my wife loves the "whole enchilada" on our LT since it does help to absorb some road vibration and the visco elastic foam conforms to her spine.

Any of the simple recovers include the waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier under the cover as standard.

Water proof non-slip covers are $39.00 per seat and are HIGHLY recommended. There are no seams in the cover so that it can't leak. It cinches up tightly and grabs under the seat pan with a thick elastic cord and cord lock. You can ride on these covers for years - very tough fabric. Picture a large black oval shower cap and you get the idea.

Add $35.00 for shipping for two seats, $25.00 for one.

Hmmm, that's about it!

If you would like to order I'll need:

1. Your full name
2. Shipping address
3. Telephone number
4. Make, model, year of bike
5. Your weight and inseam for driver and/or passenger
6. Choice of gray or black fabric
7. Options

Current turn around time is 3 business days - and we can get to them as soon as you want to ship. I'll need your E-mail address to prepare an invoice, and if you would respond to KonTourSeat@cs.com (KonTourSeat@cs.com) it would be appreciated. You can send a personal check with your seats if you would like once we've confirmed the total in your invoice.

Thanks for stopping by, and if you would like a sample of our perforated top cover material and breathable mesh by snail mail let me know. Amazing stuff.

Regards,

Ron
