Not only do they look great, but they feel even better!!! I was downright shocked and amazed today when I did several hundred miles without any discomfort whatsoever. I knew Ron's seat's were good, loved them on the LT, but on the GT it is smoothe ecstasy. That big of a difference. Kinda reminds me of contestant number one: I didn't know just how much pain I was in till she left and the pain stopped.
The Kontour seats have made this the most perfect bike. I don't even yearn for crack whores anymore!

Grey or black, doesn't matter. If they only dried out quicker, then and only then would I be a customer. Bummer. Russell it is.

Joe - WE MAKE RAIN COVERS..... and damned good ones too! ;)
(Just like EVERY other aftermarket seat manufacturer)
You'll still need to buy a rain cover with any other manufacturer, and if you leave theirs (no matter who makes it) in the rain it will soak through to the foam through the needle holes and may take several DAYS to dry out - and that's sitting on it's nose with a fan blowing on it...
Especially in Ohio: can you say mold and mildew? :D
Can't happen with ours because it has a built in waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier.
Yes, we HAVE thought of everything. :p ;)

And that's a dang good thang 'cause you owe my girlfriend LOTS of money from your last visit. Pay up sucker! :p
(Don't forget to use the rain cover and the seat heaters when it RAINS and gets cold to stay warm, dry and comfy - cause we don't want Joe lookin' at your butt again at the next CCR asking if you wet your pants)

You make rain covers for your seats, even though they have a "built in waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier" . . . and then you say that all of my seats that I've owned for the past 20 years should have had a rain cover even though my butt never gets wet and Griff's butt was wet in spite of your "built in waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier"?!?!
Got it! Crystal clear! http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/images/smilies/yesnod.gif

I've never needed a rain cover for my Bill Mayer saddle. I just condition the leather every so often, and cover the whole bike if it's gonna be parked out in the wet for a while. A big advantage of Rocky's work is that there are no seams on the top surface of the saddle, which means any standing water is more likely to bead up and roll off than soak through.
I'd like to try one of your seats one day, Ron, but haven't had the chance yet. But I agree with Joe, it seems like your design works much better in hot, dry climates like the South West.

Here's the deal Joe - there is going to be a quiz after this so pay close attention:
1. Wanna' ride in cold, rainy weather with one of our seats? (below 50F)
Put the freakin' non-slip rain cover on. The perforated top cover of the seat, mesh, barrier and multi layer foam will stay completely dry. Turn your heat on high for a few minutes, then low.
2. Wanna ride in cold, dry weather?
Put the freakin' rain cover on OR ride with windproof pants to defeat the wind chill effect, turn your heat on high for a few minutes, then low.
3. Wanna ride in mild, dry weather? (60 to 90F) This is the temperature range that 95% of motorcycling takes place in...
Do nothing. Wear armored Jeans or ventilated textile pants and cotton or micro fiber underwear. You'll have fresh, ambient temperature air blowing on your butt and crotch and keeping your junk dry all day long. Like Butt-ahh.
When you park in sunlight the infrared rejecting properties of the waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier fabric will keep the foam cores from absorbing heat, and the top cover NEVER gets even warm to the touch. Ever had VSB? (vinyl seat burn) Not with our seat. Can't happen.
4. Wanna ride in hot dry/humid weather? (90 to 115F)
Soak the seat with water from your water bottle, wear an armored ventilated pant and micro fiber underwear - NOT jeans and cotton underwear.
The perforated top cover and mesh will stay wet (the way it is DESIGNED to) for anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours depending on the humidity - The temperature drop of the air exiting the seat will be anywhere from 15F cooler in 85% humidity to 40F cooler in 10% humidity - and yes, we've measured it. This evaporative cooling effect is incredibly soothing - there is NOTHING like cold/cool air blowing on your butt on a scorching hot day. This effect will literally help to keep your core temperature in check for long periods of time. Keeping your core temperature stable will also allow you to remain more alert and relaxed.
The waterproofing/heat rejecting barrier fabric is the third layer in the seat - first is the perforated cover, second is the breathable mesh. ALL of the foam below that is protected by the barrier fabric and can NEVER get wet.
Since the top three layers are made from 100% polyester, they can never ABSORB water - they are hygrophobic. Any water held in the top cover and mesh is trapped in the air space BETWEEN the individual fibers. With no way for water to be absorbed mold and mildew cannot occur. Water has absolutely NO effect on these layers and will not hurt it - even if soaked thousands of times.
OK, time for the quiz.
Ahh, I can see you got an A+!! VERY good Joe!
If you can find ANY other seat that can keep you this comfortable from freezing to 115F - BUY IT!
(jeez, I'm kinda sounding like Lee Iaccoca here..:D )

Ron,
I do live in Ohio and I had a Corbin seat on my K12RS, I kept the leather treated and never ever not even once used the rain cover and with a quick wipe with a cloth the seat was dry and ready to go! It never got wet and it had the perf holes too.
I know alot of people don't like Corbin, but after putting 51k miles on that seat. It's hard for me to imagine using anything else. Five Hundred miles in a day was like driving to work or going to get bread at Krogers.
Regretfully, I sold my RS and bought an LT. I have missed my RS since day one! I'm selling the LT and just going to order a new GT. The only thing I am not crazy about is the seat! I don't like the way it pitches you forward!
Anyway.... Just had to put my 2 cents in about the Ohio comment. Also, I had to give Corbin a plug about their seat, because I loved mine. But I know the folks on here just have no use for them in general.

I rode Corbin's on my LT for around 40 thou and did many Iron Butt runs with them. Loved them, but they were just too dayem hot in our South Tejas climate. When Ron came out with the Kontour, I jumped so fast that mine were Beta. No more soaked and sweaty crotch. I've never looked back.
I pondered some other seats for the GT before I had possession of it, simply because I was used to a larger saddle. After riding it I adapted quickly. I can't see putting a large or dished out saddle on it, especially after the thrashing the NorCal boys gave me on my LT. When I go back, I need to be able to hang off the bike to keep up with them.:D

Does anyone have a pic for the rain cover on the bike? Do you slide around to much when the cover gets wet? I like the idea of the seat but up in New England it's not a if but when you get caught in the rain.

My Russell on the LT has a rain cover. If it rains hard it's gonna get wet and I condition it regularly.....You might say I am ANAL about my seat.

Ron, how about mixing the dark charcoal fabric and the grey perf, to create a two tone. Charcoal on top and grey perf around edges, with a welt seperation ? I bought the dark graphite metallic with gray trims. my factory seat is the gray set...
