I wish I could tell you that it looks good...but I'd be lyin. :o And the two-tone material probably makes the tractor-like shape even standout all the more. Then there's the rider's backrest that I don't understand on a GT...but to each his own.
Having said all that, I'll be ordering a Russell this winter. It's the only true custom saddle, IMO. All the others are just kinda sorta custom.

Thanks for the pics, Tony.
And Joe, it's function over form, always. My posterior doesn't care what the seat looks like; it's how it feels after 1K miles that matters. But I do agree that an all black seat may blend into the bike better.

My big question is: How do you move around on it to hang off in corners?

I agree - it's ugly. But not as ugly as my new GSA; but functionality is more important than appearance. I find the "swiss army knife" look of my GSA even more appealing every day.
The backrest simply slides out (2 seconds), and for most sport riding, it's in the way. For longer trips it's helpful to me, when I prop my legs up on the tank (usually cruising down the interstate)
I'm not too aggressive now (in my old age) so I don't worry about moving around and "hanging off" the seat in turns. I can scare myself without doing that.
The seat is not too awkward, except when you stop, then then extra width gets some getting used to when you put your feet down.

Grif, just like we do on the LT, just slide your balls forward to the tank and drop a knee!

Just looks way too wide for me, but if it works, that's all that really counts. Anyone seen a Rick Mayer seat for the GT?

Ok, I think the damn thing is just gorgeous! The two-tone with the dark graphite is stunning! You have moved the GT one step closer to the 'touring' side of its personality. At the end of a 600+ mile day bet your buns feel pretty darn good! My Sargent seat a lot less, and quite comfortable, but this appears to rival the LT in comfort. Did you lower the pegs at all...I should have looked more closely. Great pix also! Good luck, happy touring, and function is IMO most important. I have an R12GS and while some may argue it's ugly . . . well, we know the answer to that.http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif

John, yes, I've lowered the pegs -- you can see the lowering in the higher resolution picture (I think it's the 3rd picture, anyways, the big picture, just scroll around, you'll see the pegs are lowered about an inch).
Just got back from the Blue Ridge -- man did it rain on the way back last night... Was trying out the new Ohlins I just installed on my GSA,

I'm not sure if I ever posted the Sargent seat conversion done for me. I'm lucky, Sargent here in Jacksonville. This conversion is where they take the existing pan and redesign your seat. Basically, softer foam, and dished the seat out. Notice covering is now NOT one piece as in original. Works well but doesn't look as comfy as Russell seat!
Sargent expected to come out with their own seat (not furnish pan) in spring '07. But then again, R12GS was almost a year late!
