I have been thinking about getting a K1200GT or R1200RT my problem is size. I'm 6'02 and 265lbs with a 32" inseam. Are the bars comfortable for touring? I usually like to sit up close to straight or straight.

Sorry I can not go to my local BMW to check one out as I will never step in there door again after they damaged a bike of mine while working on it and refused to do anything about it. BTW the bike was a freshly restored 1965 R69s with about 5 miles on it. They dented the tank and took out a large chunk of paint.

Thanks

I'm thinking your knees would hit the curve part under the gas tank and not fit nicely underneath. But nobody can answer your question other than yourself. You're gonna have to try it.

I am 6'5" and I have been looking at the RT. It felt good for me, no problems wth the tank. I would have to get a longer shifter. I might spring for one at some point.

My experience on my brother's 06 RT is you will probably have knee and hip problems on it. I am just under six feet, and my knees and hips both cramp on it. He has since put on barbacks and Suburban peg lowering kit, and he says it is a great help.

You will fit great on it. I'm 6'3" 265 and 32" inseam. I am very comfortable on it and no problems at all.

So, we're guessing how the bike would fit you? I wanna play :D

I think you're the size BMW designed the bike for. My 30 inch inseam legs don't quite flatfoot the bike when I'm stopped. That and the comfort of the stock seat are my major complaints. You should be in control of the bike when you're stopped and that's a plus.

The downside is the the BMW riding position does involve drawing your legs up under your body and can feel cramped after a while. I added a footpeg lowering kit and a bar back-and-up kit to get more comfortable. You'll probably feel more cramped than me while riding, just because your legs are longer.
