I have been thinking about getting a GT or R1200RT my problem is size. I'm 6'02 and 265lbs with a 32" inseam. Are the bars real low on the GT?
Sorry I can not go to my local BMW to check one out as I will never step in there door again after they damaged a bike of mine while working on it and refused to do anything about it. BTW the bike was a freshly restored 1965 R69s with about 5 miles on it. They dented the tank and took out a large chunk of paint
Thanks

I think you would easily fit on a GT. I'm 6' 3" with a 32" inseam and weigh 260 and I fit on one just fine. I know folks taller, shorter, bigger and smaller than both of us who have them and love them. The bars are adjustable over a pretty broad range so that shouldn't be a problem.

yep for the GT. you might have to bend a little for the handle bars, but they're fairly adjustable. But you'll just have to try it.

I'm 6'3", 280 (headed back to 240!), with a 34" inseam. I find the GT's ergos to be PERFECT! But, that's all relative, isn't it? FWIW, I have the handlebars all the way DOWN. Once I get a Russell seat this winter, I'll be able to ride it for 800-1K miles a day effortlessly. I can do 600-800 now.
You really won't know until you can find one to sit on...or ride, better yet.

Thanks all for the info, I will start looking. Too bad my local dealer is such a jerk. I know once I have the bike I would not mind riding to a find a another dealer.

Roman Cycle is well worth the hour ride to Austintown, Ohio (just this side of Youngstown). Tell Rich and Fred that Joe from Geauga Co. sent ya.
Or...was that the dealer you're speaking of?

I think the only way you will know whether the bike fits is to take one for a test drive. I rode a GT, FJR, ST1300 and GSA all in one afternoon. Being 6' 3' I ranked the GSA 1st, ST1300 2nd, GT 3rd and the FJR last as far as ergo's and comfort. I personally won't get a GT until I can buy bar-backs, a peg relo kit and a new seat that will raise its height by at least an inch in the aftermarket. I found the GT just to cramped for my legs. Bikes are such a personal thing. Take it for a spin first.
