Alright I'm asking for your opinions :rotf: What is the best tank bag for a R1200GS.

1) Not too big, not to small just right
2) Easy on and off for fill-up
3) Stays in place
4) Doesn't block the view of GPS and instruments

Chicane! (http://www.chicaneusa.com/index.htm)

1,2 & 4 perfect!

3. Took a little adjusting to get it just right but by far the best bag I have found.

Chicane now makes a GS specific bag - not sure of the part number. I did some strap adjustments to get it to fit further back to clear the cross bar on my 12GS Adv. great bag, I ordered the water bladder too.

They are great to work with. I had a mounting strap let got on my LT bag and they replaced it no questions.

I have a Chicane also. The Chicane Baja is the one that is made specifically for the GS.

Its more on the medium to small size;leaning towards medium. Perfect for day trips, weekenders. However it can be expanded when needed tby unzipping the bottom, it then expands upward.

I really like the pockets on both sides of the bag...and the small pocket on top of the bag fits cell phone, garage door opener or wallet real well. It also has some elastic holders inside the bag that secures pens, penlights, tire gauges etc...real handy feature.

I dont like how the BMW bag seems to collapse a little, doesnt hold true to its shape (my wife has a BMW bag on her ST) However that could be from her occasionally leaning on it. The Chicane keeps its upright shape firmly.

The water bladder feature is really interesting... I dont have it...dont know that I would use it that much, buts its cool. It can be purchased seperately.

The other bag I considered was the FAMSA...it looked good/functional, but I couldnt find them anywhere cept' the internet. They looked like a good bag also. I would've liked to have seen one....just curious.

The photo the link will take you to shows them installing the Bags-Connection GPS holder on the Bags-Connection tank bag. You will note that the bag is attached to an R 1200 GS.

Follow this link to another bag, larger, shown installed on an R1150 GS http://www.twistedthrottle.com/trade/productview/2625/451/.

This site will show you how the bag attaches http://sw-motech.de/hersteller/bmw_R1200_GS_7.html?PHPSESSID=562b485936c08256c039e592ee87284b

You can get to all of this through www.twistedthrottle.com. We sell their bags and I don't think that many of the others can match it. It goes on and off so easy and the bag doesn't rest on the tank at all, they are great, good old German design!
