Electrical plug on 1200LT malfunction

Help! I just purchased a 2003 LT with low miles (3800) and the electrical socket on the drivers left front is not working. The socket by the pillion (same side) is fine and the fuses are fine as well. I flipped the cover and the female interior appeared identical to the pillon plug which is working. Need to plug in the
Gerbing for a trip next week anyone have any suggestions? P.S. I am often mechanically challenged but am educable

The first thing I would check would be the plug on the back of the connector. It is not unusual at all for that to not get plugged in when the panel was put on.

On my bike one of those is hot all the time the other only with the ignition on???
