I'll be ready in time to do 600 ml service. Is this an inspection or a service. I recieved no info or documentaton as to the sceduling of these service/inspections and what is done! Does the brake and clutch fluids really need be changed and valve inspections @600mls? I can see oil/filter change. Can anyone send me this scedule? I've wrenched my own bikes for 30yrs, and i'm sure most I can do myself; other than what needs a scanner or computer to anylyze. If done and documented by myself, is that sufficient for dealer warrentee? Has there been a problem w/this in past w/anyone; Also I'm in need of either the CD or paperback parts and shop manual(maybey aftermarket),web info, and discount supplier. I guess this bike is a keeper, but dont tell my wife, HAHA.
Thanks ; Howie...

The 600 mile check up was included in the purchase price of my bike, I do not remember everything done but engine oil and rear end luids were changed. I do not think they change the clutch and brake fluids, The computer is checked for faults and all computer modules are checked and updated if needed. My dealer nomally charges some where between 150-200 bucks for the 600 on the gt. The cheapest in BMW's line up. I recommend having them do it and start doing the rest yourself if you want.

If you want to save some $$, change the oil and rear dif fluid yourself. But, I'd take it in and let them check it over and put it on the GT-1 (the computer) this time.
The GT-1 has some kind of count down and check that gives a ball park figure on an estimate with riding habits, red line usage, etc. on when the valves need to be checked. Checked, as in feeler gauge, not adjusted.
I've been reading the shop manual, it's going to be a bear to get to the valves. If you noticed my farkle threads, I'm no novice and I used buy and rebuild Hardley's. It's gonna be a bear. Of course, it's new, and I used to think the same thing of the LT six years ago. Now I can adjust the LT's valves in about an hour and a half.
The CD shop manual is still too new for aftermarket. You're gonna have to go with the real McCoy, about 150 bones.

I think there are some differances in services between the GT and the LT. There must be a GT service schedule out there somewhere?

Did anyone ever come up with a service schedule listing specifically for the GT2?

Did anyone ever come up with a service schedule listing specifically for the GT2?Yes, it's been posted on the k-bike board. But really all it is is oil changes, inspections and hooking up to the computer. You have an air filter thrown in there, no fuel filter, the BEEG valve inspection at 18k and after that it's determined by the computer. I'm fixing to leave, or I'd go find it for you. Go cruise the GT2 section of www.k-bikes.com (http://www.k-bikes.com) till I get back:D
