I may be buying a low miles 06 K1200GT, and not sure what changes where made to improve the bike for 07 models and if better to buy an 07, and which were standard or optional equipment. As I've heard , something about a Zenon headlight, differential drain plug and non-servo brakes, and not sure if 06 servo brakes are trouble. I've already heard of the maintenance costs owning a BMW, but I think the ride is worth it so far.

Picked up my 07 GT today. I was told that the Xenon will not be avail for several more months. I didn't notice any engine surge prob's; hyper-sensitive brakes or throttle. I've seen complaints of these prob's on some 06 GT's. They have not been universal, however.
I would compare the 06 that you are considering against a 07 with a good test ride. What the tech's tell you may not jive with what you feel on each bike.

All of the '06 GTs came fully-equipped, except the alarm option. I don't think the '07 will come this way. You will have to order the options that you want. Whatever you buy, make sure it has the ESA option. Pure magic! Once you understand it.
The '06 GTs still have the power-assisted (partially integral) ABS brakes, while the '07 GTs come with the new Continental Teves braking system that is not power-assisted. I love the brakes on my '06. But I'm am sure that the '07 brakes are just as good, if not better. Depends on your riding style, I suppose.

Before I decided on my '07, I looked at an '06 w/ 2600 miles on it... which was "discounted" only $2K from the '07... and I also wanted the color of the new one... so, for $4K less, I'd take the '06. Just my $.02

Rainman, I too looked at that 2600 mile GT in Daytona. I saved 5k buying a brand new 06 from south florida. The only option this bike didn't have was the anti-theft system.
I've been thrilled with this bike. The brakes are unbelievable! I can't be happier.

Tony: thanks for your f/u. Did you deal with the guy there at Daytona BMW named Frank? I really gave that '06 a lot of thought but I haven't had one second of afterthought because I'm so happy with my new ride. Pretty common theme, ain't it?
By chance, did you buy your new '06 from the Miami store? Reason I ask is because I was gonna fly down there and pick an '06 up... but the hispanic cat I talked to sent me an eMail to say, "Don't bother making the trip, we sold both GT's we had..." ... I literally got shot outta the saddle, but dem's the brakes! All's well that ends well for all of us... only it sounds like you made out like a bandit on the price. Good for you. We oughta meet up one day.

For those of y'all that have 'em, what thinks ya of the Motorad Anti-Theft system? You think it has anything on Lo-Jack? ... or am I just being an overly protective, anal retentive mother?

Rainman,
Give us the details of the anti-theft system.
Lo-Jack has several different levels of protection. The top package has the usual locater (activated when you report your ride stolen), added alarm system and a early notification system so you know as soon as your car is stolen.
Same with GM's On-Star system.

As I understand it, the GT's anti-theft system consists of a coded key (on all bikes) to prevent unauthorized starting, and an alarm system (separate option) that makes a loud noise if disturbed. I don't think there is any kind of tracking system offered by BMW at the moment.

Rainman, I purchased my GT in Ft. Myers. They had 2 2006 GT that were late shipments from the factory. They had been selling their 07's since Aug. When I heard they had new 06's I called and secured the bike with my credit card. I drove down with a trailor and pulled back up to Jax. I hope the guy who started this thread can see there are deals out there if you'll take an 06. How may GT's do you think we have here in Jax?
