OK, I'm hooked and reading some of the GT Post hasn't helped my sanity. So a few questions if I may.

1. Are dealer's doing any discounting on the Bike or perhaps dealer cost for
options IE: large top case or the fancy GPS??

2. Is $6500, if I can get it, a fair trade in for a 99LT Standard with 46k
miles, no heated grips or computer, custom seat and Pauls rack.

Any other gotchas are appreciated

Thanks Mark

The gotcha I can think of is the numerous speeding tickets and increased insurance premium.;)

The trade-in value seems right. If you're willing to sell yourself, you might get another $1500 ... might.

Only one way to find out: ask. I was given the top case, 600 mile service and extra key instead of a bike discount.

You'll always do better selling yourself. It is more convenient to trade and may save on some taxes, ask your dealer about it.

You got a hell of a deal! My dealer wanted approx $800 for the large top case installed.

"Installed"? The installation amounts to throwing it on the rack and pushing the handle down. Uninstallation (New word) is a little more complicated in that you twist the key, pull the handle the rest of the way up and pull it off. If they're actually charging for "installation" just buy the topcase, carry to the bike like a suit case and invest your own 3 seconds to do it!

Be sure to key the lock before you slam it in place. I hear it's a real bear to remove once in. Keying is simple. Put the key in the lock and file down the tabs that stick out. Wipe it down real good and slam it in place. Nothing to it.

The cats I bought mine from 3 weeks ago weren't dealin' for nuttin'! ... and I worked on 'em for two weeks. I paid $80 for the spare key. I REALLY worked on him for the 600 mi. maintenance, but there was nuttin' doin' ... sigh*
