I have been going to bike rallies in the UK for over 10 years but apart from a regular treffen in Belgium, I havn;t been to any weekend meets in mainland Europe.
Is there anyone here that can recommend some? Esspecially a K1200lt run, if there is one.

You should definitely try the Norwegian BMW meeting. It is arranged the 1st weekend of August every year, and every year in a new place. Probably the most informal BMW meeting you will ever see!
You will find information here (sometimes also in English):

Not at the moment.
All I know is that it is being held between the 25th and 29th of April 2007.
The only contact I have is the e-mail of one of the organisers.
mguichard@primagaz.fr
Will keep you posted if I hear any more.

Count me in - I love Norway - had a couple of days there on my 'Northern Europe - Scandinavian' trip, back in August, then had another 10 days in Norway, mid Sept. by my self. For once, just stayed in the same hotel (on Bygland Fjord) for 7 days. It was superb- the roads are excelent, dropped all my gear off in the room, so the bike is sooooooooooo much lighter - everyone says 'Norway is so expensive', BUT every night, I was having dinner/bed & breakfast plus 3 cans of local beer (@ £6 per can:eek: ), the total food/accomodation bill was £230. I plan to go back there on a regular basis (North Shields - Kristiansand overnight ferry is only 35m up the road)

I pm'd the organiser of the Norwegian Website some time ago, to get dates for next year's rally, but have not received a reply. I should try again - I would definately be up for it.

Do you mean Smutje? He's on here, too, of course. Ruth and I stayed with him at Landhaus Bleeker last July on the way back from the Garmisch-Partenkirchen Bikermeeting and he treated us absolutely royally! Let's put it this way, his rooms are excellent, the variety and quality of his beer is very good and he's an absolute wizard in the kitchen. When you add in he rides and LT and will show you around the area, given half a chance.....

Oh, yes! One last thing! I HATE him! He not only teased me continually and unmercifully about his forthcoming trip to the CCR in Georgia but he also sent me a set of four CDs with a record of his trip to rub salt into the wounds. :rotf:

Right - the LT is getting stripped down (as soon as I can get hold of a bike lift/ramp) and will be fit for the spring.
ANYONE going to Europe from the UK on any LT related rallies - pleas let me know details asap - I have to get some decent mileage on this beast!!!

(sod europe (hopefully that woz dead quiet!!)) - as soon as the weather get's anywhere close, I'm off to Norway again - EMPTY roads, Alpine passes, good accomodation (- anything from camp sites, Huttas, or reasonable Hotels/Motels) - if you've never been, you'll love it. - reputation for being expensive - £6 for a can of beer, but after long ride out, you only want 3 - (£18 -still less than I do every night at home !!)

Excuse me, but the last time I looked at a map, Norway was in (North) Europe.

I know quite a few of our American cousins think Spain is in South America, but don´t let us confuse them any more.

No body has mentioned Garmish

This is the BMW meeting in southern Germany on the first weekend in July each year.
You should put it on your list of things to do and places to visit

Go onto the motorad web site and check out the photos from previous years

it is a great trip and a wonderful venue

If you have not been you should go.

Norway certainly is in Scandinavia, yes, and about as far as you can get from Spain and still stay in Europe...
Some more info about the meeting:
It will be held at Dokka, Norway, from August 3rd and until 5th.
The name of the camping site where it will be held, is Laftetunet Hytte og fritidssenter, http://www.laftetunethytteogfritidssenter.no/. The site will be open from Thursday 2nd.
There are possibilities for tenting or sleeping in cabins (hytte). I guess you will have to be early if you want to reserve a cabin. There are also possibilites for other indoor accommodations nearby.
If you decide to go, you should certainly also take the time to visit some of the mountain roads not too far away. If anybody is interested, I can give you some routes.
Although I'm living in Korea for the time being, I hope to be able to visit the meeting, I have an R1100RT waiting for me in Norway.

Trygve
