The roster is over in the other thread ( "Q" anyone, or sumpthin' like that.).
This is just to point you in the right direction if you've never been there, or don't remember how you got there before!!
http://www.hardeightbbq.com/
It's hard to miss it if you arrive at the intersection of Hwy 281 and Hwy 67. Be on the northwest corner, amid a lotta smoke!!
I pinged 'em this afternoon with a head count of plus 25 folks; told 'em we'd arrive around 11:00 to settle on who parks next to who, then tell a few lies and do a farkle check; then when most everyone has arriven, we'd eat, and prolly out on the back porch.
BTW - if you need GPS info, in addition to their website directions, you can do Google Earth and down in the lower left margin of the window is a moving coordinate span.
Cy'all Saturday. Please ride safe, and enjoy the trip.

Yup - me and Davey are heading that way Satiday morning.
BTW - just got this reply from the Hard 8:
Hey,
We will look forward to seeing you guys!!! Thanks so much and have a safe trip.................
Vicki Nivens
If I find her Satiday, I'm gonna ax her whazzup with the Hawg Pen parking area?? They got sidestand plates over there and it's fenced off, and ......
Course, I parked in there oncet and ole Toad liked to gag to death; that area is right in front of the outdoor smoker pits. Choke, choke!! (yeah, I know there's a joke in there!!).
Cya Satiday, y'all.

Excuse us Hans - sorry 'bout that. Forgot we got some visitors from outta state comin' over for the 'Q'!! ;) MF is Marble Falls, Tejas - just up 281 north, outta San Antonio, thru Blanco, Johnson City. The Bluebonnet Cafe (BBC) is on 281, in Marble Falls, and it's 'about' two hours ride from there to the Hard Eight BBQ in Stephenville.
Lookin' forward to meeting you and Pat Satiday. Ride safe.

Davey wants to leave the DD (Dodgin' Duck) around 0630-0645, so I reckon we might hit Blanco 'bout the time you do. We won't be goin' real fast that time of the mornin', cuz of bambi.
Davey is havin' a root canal tamale morning, so he's prolly gonna have pancakes, or soft food at the BB - not sure what he's gonna munch on at the Hard 8. Cobbler maybe!! :D :histerica

Gotta do some job scouting around Ingram and I can't figure out how to get there soon enough in the day if I make the pork chops, ribs and cobbler. Don't eat too much at BBC or you'll be sorry.

Well, lucky-dawg Dave got the root canal postponed 'til next week, so them pork chops are livin' on the edge as we type!!! :D
Sorry you and Deb can't make it Edgar - understand the situation tho; good luck. There's a Harvest Classic rally in Luckenbach that'll prolly spill over into the Hill Country, so ride careful if you're 2-wheelin' it, or drive careful if cagin' it.
Yelp at me one day next week. Storage unit entry hours changed - we'll chat about it.

Guess who's coming to din-din?
I'd letcha keep guessing, butt heck, times a-wastin' and the gig is just around the corner.
Monte Rogers, of all people, is gonna try and remember how to ride his LT again!!! Sez got air in the tires; battery charged up; remembered to put gas in the tank; and is gonna go eat some "Q"!!!
Cya in Johnson City 'bout 0730 tamale, Monte - or if Dave and I miss ya, we'll see ya at the Bluebonnet.
Think I'll go find the roster and add a name or two. And hey, Shawn - you ride safe comin' outta OKlahoma that early in the mornin'. See ya in the parkin' lot.

Darn! Sorry to hear you and Ms. Deb won't be there - was looking forward to seein' you again...
Anything you would like to do a quality control check on and report back to you on? ;) This may be my pork chop trip; but that sausage is awful good...
Good luck in your Edgar - miss you both...

So I had it all figured out, we roll into Stephenville around 2 pm check into a nice room,
the wife is gonna go shoppin and I'm gonna spend some time scraping bugs and road dirt of the LT.
then we're gonna kick back and rest up to do some serious eatin tommorrow.
So from Starbucks I start calling the motels,
they're all booked .........not a single room in town. "homecoming"
Looking at the map I call neighboring towns,
same sad story except for the Hico hilltop,
I do a u-turn in their parking lot, we ain't staying there,
we pass the Coffee cup for the second time,
my wife's pokin and jabbin at me, she wants some pie, I tell her later,..... we're going to Waco.
An hour later I'm callin motels in Waco,
they've got their own homecoming game going on and I can't believe it but..... Waco is booked.
Now we go north on the interstate stopping at a few motels along the way,
when I finally do find a vacancy they want $150.
this cheap Dutchman ain't gonna pay that for a bed and a shower.
Finally 10 miles from Ft. Worth we find a decent room for a reasonable price, what a hassle.....
All my wife has to say is: that better be some good pie! :)

Glad you landed safely.. If I'd known you were in a bind there are motel/hotel opennings in Round Rock.... not much further south... and yeah, I hear the pie is yuuummy.
Dick
Oct 20th, 2006, 9:12 pm
Doggone it, Hans - who'da thunk? I sure didn't. Sorry. And I thank you for the homecoming info. I assume the game is tonite, butt there still might be a crowd tamale at the Hard 8 on everybody's way outta town. Soooo - we prolly ought not spend too much time hob-nobbin' in the parking lot. Doesn't take too long for a line to form in front of the outside BBQ pits. Guess we just play it by eye and gauge the crowd on arrival. Glad I called 'em now, so they at least know to expect us.
Cya around 1100, Hans. BTW - if Pat and Gina are gonna do the pie gig in Hico, then the rest of us might as well do the cobbler thang at the Hard 8 - just for assurance to the sweet tooth!! ;) :D

Monte who? That isn't that cantankerous old bastard we used to hang around with is it?
Dayem Hans, I've got extra bedrooms and I'm batching it this weekend. Of course, you woulda had to come to New Braunfels, but hell, you prolly put that many miles and hours looking for a place to light.

Home at 7:06.... 6hr18min.... It got a lot colder as I went north - it was 10 degrees cooler in Wichita Falls - it was 45 by the time I got home...
Strong windes from south of WF to east of Tulsa - I bet my mpg is in the mid 30s...
Hilight - the lady who came up on my right on the Turner turnpike then came over - and I mean all the way... Thanks goodness I had some room before the concrete serperators...
I honked, she took off, but I was able to pull up next to her and give her a stern look - no hand gestures....
What a lot of fun!

Did you eat both of 'em??? All of 'em?? Damn!!
Which one's your fav?? That one with Reeses Pieces looked purdy good!!
Me and Monte stopped in Lampasas cuz Monte just HAD to have one of them Moo Latte thangs. Well, since he didn't eat any pie in Hico, I figgered he deserved a Moo Latte --- and I hate to see a man eat by himself, so I let him buy me one too. Yummers.
I tell ya - one of my better food days on this planet --- killer pork chop at the Hard 8, with some killer borracho beans; a nice size piece of Key Lime pie in Hico; and a French Vanilla Moo Latte in Lampasas. And Cheryl wonders why I passed on her awesome Tuna Fish sammitch for supper!!! :rotf:
BTW - thanks to everyone for coming to the lunch gig. It wuz truly great to finally meet Hans and Pat Ruys face to face; and alwayz great to see Shawn in Tejas; and to share some 'Q' with Bruce Coleman and his bro, Rick; and to meet newbie Keith Elliott from Coleman's 'hood; and share a lane blast with Grif and his good-outta-the-box GT's headlight system!; and cop a laugh with Keith Hallmark and Gina (Gina T. is the Pie Lady, with a quick wit); and always, always good to hang with Alan Stuber, Channing Fell, Steve Shreeve, Richard Kuethe, Brian Louw, Bill Hoch; and to ride with Monte Rogers (who hasn't forgotten how to crack the throttle after 4 months of no riding!).
Hope I didn't miss anyone - apologies if I did. I'll check the prime list and see. And thanks to Steve for clicking the digitals; I have a feeling some of us are in for some blackmail if we ever don't play nice when Steve is around!!! Thanks, Bud. I need to take lessons from ya on that picture machine sometime.
Hope all got home safe.

Great to see everyone! Gotta tell ya, had a great time riding, but especially meeting and seeing y'all!
I made it to Waco about 1420 to meet family.. We got some "news" that our baby son and his wife (I married 'em in April) are probably "expecting" their first!
Made it home around 1800, washed bike, etc.. So it was certainly a GREAT day on so many levels.
Peace and blessing to y'all.
