I am getting poor signal quality with the HOON mount on my brake resv. Anyone else use this mount and have the same problem?
In my truck I get full signal, move the radio to the bike and get 1/2 with both vehicles side by side. This is leading to foliage and cloud fadeouts.
This is really annoying me.
Thanks!

I ran the Hoon on the brake lever for a while but have since moved it over to my clutch cover. I haven't had any significant loss like you mention in either locations.

I think the problem is a poor ground plane. I tried several different locations with mixed results. The best solution I found is a BMR antenna mount. I mounts on the radio antenna bracket which is connected to the bike frame which in turn gives it the best "ground" it can get. I know its not a real ground, but it's the most conductive metal available.

I have lost signals on my Satellite Radio due to trees, buildings .... but I have had it fade out for no reason also. Just by luck, I fiddled with the antenna lead going into the radio one day and it came back strong. At least on my radio, I twist the plug every now and then to prevent the problem. So far it has worked.

Mayhaps a leetle dielectric grease into the holes of your SatRad is in order.

Tried that and it did not help at all. Same with my FRS/GMRS radio connection to my AutoCom. Mayhaps I need a different flavor dielectric grease.

coax connections at connector body are very fragile. early stages of fracture in this area, can lead to partial signal loss, if not complete.. so, twist, and pull carefully ! :)

All I did with my XM antenna was replace one of the screws in the brake res. with a small hex head bolt. The antenna is stuck to that small hex head bolt, it doesn't move & never had a signal problem.

I use the Hoon mount but I put the antenna on the top box with a piece of double stick tape and it's worked well for 3 years...
