Sorry for all the posts on my intercom install but i am trying to get all the wiring done so I don't have to take it apart again. I want to prewire it for a radar in addition to my gps.

Has anyone routed both gps and radar into one input using a splitter? My voiceII only has one set of inputs on the back for gps or radar and I want to use both. I am thinking of getting a mixer unless I can get away with just a splitter.

I don't anticipate both talking or beeping at the same time too often but I don't want a bunch of distortion on the few occasions that it does happen.

I know on my old Starcom unit California sport touring recommended just a splitter.

I don't have a radar detector with audio out to test it.

Sorry to say I just have a vague response... I searched my hard drive, but cannot find it - on the old forum, long ago someone posted a diagram for a cable with diodes (I think) for isolation. The diodes kept the signal from the radar from going to the gps and vice versa.

From what I have seen different radar detectors may or may not have amplified audio so the specific detector may have to be determined before you can be sure.

Good Luck,
Tim

I do know that Escort and the V-1 need a isolator, and they use two different types I do not know the difference, just know when ever dealing with intercoms they always ask which radar detector escort or V-1 they use differetn equipment

another option if you like is to use the mix-it2 from John brown to mix your different audio signals and pipe them to your intercom

I have a splitter set up for my radar and cell phone and it works great. Hope that helps.

The escort will need a ground loop isolator, the one that escort sells on their website works well, the one that I had from Starcom didn't work.
