I think is time to finally move to a custom shocks on my bike.
I post this question here about a year ago with no final response from the board so I decided to put it again,

Any one here ever used BOTH Ohlins AND Wilberts shocks on his K1200LT?

Since it’s a very expensive bill, I would like to get the better from my buck so if you had used both I’m assuming that you have a better idea on which on is better.

I’m 6.1 with 180pounds and the wife is 5.8 with 140
We always ride 2 up and most of the time with full load.

That sad, what model of Ohlins of Wilberts should I try, in your opinion?

Elton, this debate may be just like Bridgestone vs. Metzeler, so you probably won't have a winner, but instead you will get a lot of opinions.

Except for either Mark Neblett, Dave Shealey, and maybe Coni Fitch, I don't think you're going to find anyone else that has run both shocks. If you get a major change with either, why in the world would you spend the $$$$$ to try the other. Gilles hit the nail on the head as you will start another tire/oil thread, only this time based on shocks. Pick one set and go with it. I have the Ohlins on mine and I like them. Tom Gallo, tmgs, has the Wilbers and he likes them.

Just pick one, do your research, and then order them from either with all the specifics so that the shocks are setup for you.

On that note, the next time I get my rebuilt, I'm going to find a shop that knows how to set them for the bike, 2 up and loaded. The last rebuild is ok and I can tell that they have been worked over, but they don't feel anything like they did when the bike came from Raffy. :(
