Hypothetical situation, of course....
This all takes place as we are hurtling down the turnpike at 75mph (+ a few) in the van...
Last week while taking my son to the doctor in OKC, my wife asks how I like my bike, how is running, etc.... Now she knows I love my bike, but has 0 interest herself.
I say fine, trying to be cautious. She chats a bit more with me about it and somewhere I mention it goes off warranty in December.
"Oh, maybe you need a new one"
"Well they won't have a new LT for another couple years"
"Do they have any other ones you like"
"Well, they have this new sportier one that is a bit peppier and weighs a couple hundred pounds less"
"Can you travel on it?"
"Yeah, some of the guys have already"
{More chit chat about the GT as I try and keep from wrecking the van...}
"Well, you seem to have done a lot of research on it"
"It has been reviewed in all the makes and several guys have posted their experiences"
"How much trade in would you get on your bike for one of those? You might want to do something before your warranty expires"
{more extremely cautioins conversation here about finances... and conversation fades gracefully}
Today, coming home from another docotor appointment in OKC, she does it again! Now, there have been no bike conversations since the previous one above...
"Next time we ought to go by the dealer in OKC - there is one there isn't there?"
"Yes... Why would we need to fo that?"
"I'ld like to see one of those GTs"
"Well, I saw one in Bentonville this spring - it was blue and looked very nice. They offered me a demo ride but I said no"
"Why?"
"'Cause I would have wanted it then"
"Well, I still want to see one"
""They probably won't have one - those don't sit on the floor long"
{end of conversaton... }
OK, as I have gotten older I have learned some things:
1) it is ok to ask for help
2) complex things confuse me
there might have been others, but I have forgotten them....
What does this mean? I have checked Revelation, and this isn't one of the end time signs, so I am ok there. What's worse, is we aren't exactly flush with cash thanks to all these medical expenses and she wouldn't bring up something like this for no reason... Something is up and once again, I am afraid I am going to be the last to know...
I haven't been lusting after the GT or any other bike, but with this kind of temptation, I am not sure ai can hold out!
Should this be in the humor forum?

Well, b-day in December Raffy....
I dunno Dick... I haven't met you better half yet, but something tells me that the last thing we need is collaboration here! I would be afraid that after they 'visited' you and I would be in more trouble and have more work than ever before...
Well, this is probably just wishful thinking, but when I showed her the pics in Rider, she thought it looked really nice....

You make me Laugh......
You should come by the OKC dealer at some point and take a test ride..
When I sat on the one at CCR, I didn't particularly like the more crouched riding position. Maybe that could change or maybe it's just my 36" inseam talking...
Could be very different for you...........
I'm not so sure she would like the GT as well as the LT, But if she never rides on it than it shouldn't be an issue anyway....I'm certain you'll like it just fine..:)
Never pass up an opportunity to upgrade. Especially if, as it looks, You're getting the go-ahead from the better half...
Then of course she could just be messin' with you......Or maybe there is something that SHE wants and the only way she thinks she'll get it is to get you something first.......Yeah, that's the ticket......She want's something...
It all makes sense now......IF she's willing to get you a 20K+ motorcycle,,,Wonder what it is that she wants ???????
Good Luck with that....

Be careful when a woman shows interest in your motorcycles, guns, golf clubs, tools and other toys. That sometimes happen just after they talk to a divorce lawyer..

Perhaps she's reconciled to the fact you are a motorcyclist? Or maybe she's thinking "hmm, if he has a new one that will give him 3 more years of warranty so we don't ahve to worry about breakdowns"...
or...
she liked the way you behaved when you returned from your "bike trip".

:-) I like this theory best...
Oh well, I've got a great bike as it is and an understanding wife... However, I may have to swing by BMW in OKC to see if they have a GT....

?
2006 Suzuki 1000. This bike is perfect! It has 1000 miles and has had its 500 mile dealer service. (Expensive) It's been adult ridden, all wheels have always been on the ground. I use it as a cruiser/commuter. I'm selling it because it was purchased without proper consent of a loving wife. Apparently "do whatever the f*** you want" doesn't mean what I thought. Call me, Steve.?? (801)867-8292

Good advice. To be used subtly of course. The cautious course your taking so far is probably the best way to handle any husband/wife conversation of the sort your currently experiencing.
Actually, cautiously is the best way for any husband to talk with his wife. Ya just never know what they're gonna come up with.

You really haven't figured this out yet, huh?
Well, the FIRST thing you have to do is NOTHING for yourself. No bike, nothing.
The SECOND thing you do is buy her a freakin diamond anything!
REALLY.
After that, you can do ANYTHING.... :thumb:
Believe me, after 35 years of training, I know....yep...sho do. :D:D:D

It could be thoughts of mortality and not wanting you to give up on enjoyable things while you can still enjoy them.

Thanks guys....
Update...
The medical issues relate to our oldest who suffered a sever eye injury from a roman candle back in July -- it is a long road to recovery...
We went ot OKC again today for a post op check. Wife got us up and around waaaay early. Once we were on the road I asked what the deal was.....We're going by the dealership!
OKC had 4 GTs sitting there 1 blue, 2 gray, and that silvery color. She likes th blue (so do I)... She was asking the sales guy a lot of quesitions, most made no sense bless her heart, but. Anyways, I plopped up on a couple to see how it felt - no time for a ride - it would take some getting used to and I am afraid that seat would have to go. But, I think I could force myself to enjoy those 150 ponies... :D
Thanks for all the advice ...

Is your life insurance paid up???!!
Have you noticed anyone with a trench coat, hat over the eyes and a camara following you??
Saw a commercial on TV with MOM saying to son; "I don't know how to ask dad about a new livingroom floor." Son hollers upstairs - "DAD MOM WANTS A NEW LIVINGROOM FLOOR". Commercial continues till the punch line... Son hollers down to Mom: "MOM; DAD WANTS A NEW MOTORCYCLE!!!"
On the serious side; hope your eldest manages to struggle to good health.
Good Luck!
Peace,

2) If #1 isn't correct, you are truly blessed !!
3) 3 trips to OKC and you havent called or PM'd !!!!!!! :(
4) If you get a GT, I am not allowed to sit on it !!, don't even let me look at it !!
You're gonna be one happy guy in January !!

Darn James!
Where have you been?
Hawh probably is right... Not sure it is diamonds though, more likely kitchen remodel...
Well, truth be known, it probably won't come to pass (at least in the near future), but it sure is fun to ponder the possibilities! Have to admit, it is a whole diffferent feeling sittin' on a GT vs. LT - would take some getting used to. Of course, I could to places quicker... ;-)
'Sides, I am within a few thousand farkle-bucks of having the LT where I want it!
Have been making trips to Dean McGee eye institute - not fun trips. If they were, we'ld get together for sure!
