Well A couple of years ago I took MSF BRC, I thought mostly for my wife to learn how to ride a MC as I had over 15 years riding. Well after the class I was amazed at what all I learned. So after thinking about it I decided I wanted to be an instructor. So I put my name in the hat and time has passed and I have been kicking cones assisting with classes and the time is here for instructor classes.
I received all my materials and started my assignment, not thinking much about it. Well the more I got into it the more amazed I became at all the STUFF involved. I have only done the questionere. I realize I am into quite a ride here. I couldnt believe the hours spent going over the questionere so far. As with most things I know it will be worth it! There is something about watching the light come on in a students eye that makes it all worthwhile. I know I have a teachers heart and have been teaching on my job for many years and I love working with folks and watching as they learn new things.
So on Oct 20 the real fun begins, LOL, who knows I might even learn something!

Good going! I was thinking about teaching the class too but I have my kids every other weekend so my availability would be limited.

Good for you.
I'll bet you could hold classes on the deck of your barge/tug/whatever you call it. Certainly enough square footage. Would bring a whole 'nother level of motivation to STAY IN THE BOX. One false move and man overboard!

Congrats, Floyd! Maybe I'll roll down to Louisiana and take a refresher course. Then we can run over to Barber and do a couple of laps with George. :)

Floyd,
Welcome aboard, this weekend warrior occupation is both gratifying and fun, once you get through the Instructor Preparation (IP) part.
I've trained both new instructors and students in my time doing this and all I can say is "hang on" you are in for one hell of a ride. OH! and your own riding will improve by leaps and bounds , as you learn from others mistakes and as you strive to set an example.
Patrick.

As much of a pain in the ass and pocket book as it is to get INTO a class around here. Teach'n 'em may well be a viable option.

People in cars don't pay attention, they suffer from inattentive blindness. :(
It is up to you to be alert 100% of the time, even instructors.
I knew this person, she was an excellent rider.RIP

Having gone though an IP previous to the one Floyd's currently in, I've let him know it wasn't easy but the end result is very gratifing. Floyd's motivated so I'm sure he'll do fine. :thumb:

Hey, Floyd.. good stuff.. and you might even save a few lives... not a bad gig. I did it and loved it... even started my own school.... then was "called" to other work.
Yes, there is so much to learn.. and teaching, well, that's a real blessing.
I would send my studens off with the following...
"You know the basics of Motorcycle riding, the rest of your riding life will be learning to be a Motorcyclist."
