I am considering the purchase of a used '05 R1200GS-ABS. It's an Iron Butt cycle, almost 80k miles in 2 years. It looks to be in decent shape, well maintained and all that.

I'm having a hard time coming up with an offer. I've seen some good looking, low mileage examples listed in the mid $12k range. The bike has several accessories (inc. BMW expandable cases) and almost 4 years left on an unlimited mileage warranty (this is transferrable, right?).

I don't "deal" with bikes often, so I have little experience in terms of judging what "fair value" would be. I expect a decent drop in value due to the high mileage, but... I'm thinking around $8k??? Am I way off?

I saw this listed on the LD site. I would be surprised if this GS isn't in great shape.
Take the used value of the GS and subtract for milage, but don't forget to add the value (50% of retail) of the accessories and the extended warranty. I would say your bidding low at 8K but it could be a starting point.

True I saw the ad , But at 80000 you should factor in about 1200-1500- for new suspension.
Also plan on changing the transmission bearings & seals , Main seal etc.. by 100k. Otherwise she's a ticking time bomb!
The value of accessories is debatable since they only have value if you would want them.
