View Full Version : Boerne Brush Fires Today - i.e. Dick

I heard there might be a chance of brush fires today in Boerne. Something about having to use a flame thrower to light all the candles on Dick's cake. Seems they were having trouble getting the last one lit without the first one burning out. :p :D

The local FD has been notified and is now on high alert status. Even firehouses as far away as SA have been alerted just in case they are needed. :histerica

O------- almost forgot HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Hope Cheryl stopped by the BBAC and picked up the Dolly Parton pie for ya.

I guess that explains the northern lights observed here in San Antonio. Ole Dick lights 'em up on a normal day so HAPPY BIRTHDAYS are so right on!

Hey, hey - thanks one and all. Appreciate the birfday wishes. Got me a chocolate cake yestiday - get the ice cream upgrade today!! ;) I wuz reminded by Barrett that we have a burn ban, plus we're on water restriction, so forewent the candle lighting ceremony and used the mini-mag lighter from ole Toad's oddermint thangie. 'Sides, at my age, I'm well past counting candles - save the cake plate; just pass the pan; and don't bother cuttin' the thang up in nice leetle squares! I gotta burger-flipper thangie off the barby; that'll take them portions out just 'bout my size!! :D Yummers!

Thanks again, folks. Some Mondays are better'n others and this one is startin' out great. Also, loved my PM notes to wake up to.

Ya think a cold glass of Porter  would go good with chocolate cake and a scoop or two of Blue Bell??? :thumb: C'mon by. Put your fone on just in case we find the Cypress Mill open; butt I'm votin' for the Duck.

She does get a leetle white-knuckled tho; butt try as she might, she couldn't pull that instrument panel off that leetle whirlybird in Alaska - did leave a crease in the bucket seat tho!!

Thanks for the birfday wish, Bud. Cya sometime soon.

Well, I'll be danged! I though you stopped hav'n birdays....Butt have a happy anny who. I'm bushed, cant do these marathon weekends like I used to:

For them what cares, this was the ride:

Friday 9/29 B'fast at *$$ at 0530 in Boerne. Others showed and I left at 0645. Stopped off in Bernalillo, NM for dinner and sleep about 1900.

Sat 9/30 Made it to Durango, CO by 0930, attended funeral at 1300 hours, checked on my Colorado property while I was there (about 4'x8'x6' deep).
Back to Bloomfield, NM by 1800 hours, couple cervezas and some left overs from the funeral reception, bed.

Sun 10/1 0645 in route to somewhere's. Stopped in Cuba, NM for church, lunch in Bernalillo (Blake's Lottaburger, NM's answer to In'N'Out burgers). Checked into motel in Lubbock about 1830 (they left the light on for me!)

Mon 10/2 00:01, in route home due to leaking water supply valve and slight flood, unhappy wife. Sceered of forest rats so took my time, arrived in Lakehills at 0730. Off to Lowes to buy new valve, fixed now. And whist I was gone, AC quit working...

Oh, I ended up taking the LT, ran great to and from, 2020 miles rt.

Thanks for them 'happy' wishes Russ. I did stop havin' birfdays, Russ; butt Cheryl is sometimes cruel and loves to rub it in about how it's age before sumpthin'!! And thass ok, cuz I loves to get even in June!! And will!!

Man, you did have a marathon trip, didn't ya? Glad Phoenix behaved like you wanted; expecially after just bein' worked on and serviced, without a shake-down cruise! Doug and I exchanged the shop manual, butt kept it open just in case you needed rescued!!

Hey, livin' in the country, you gotta expect to be your own plumber, electrician, fixer-upper, HVAC expert, etc --- or at least know some phone numbers!!! Shout if there is anythang you need help with.

Thanks again for the birfday greetin'. Cya soon.

Ditto, Dick - was great to see you - sorry we didn't get to chat more.

I'll wait until I confirm w/ Brian but based on past conversations I reckon we'll be out here on the 14th destroying, errr, working on his bike ;). Once the date is solid I'll put a post out and get headcount - I'll pony up for some BBQ from Buster's and we'll have us a proper tech session.

Thanks, pard. I kept it low noise! I did manage to talk the city into ignoring my birfday! They were really great about it; said they'll prolly ignore next year's too!!!

BTW - took the opportunity to play with my birfday present this evening. Seems our water restriction program allows me to water 'tween 0300 and 0800 in the morning. I got me a million - yeppir, a million! - of those beneficial nematodes that kill over 250 kinds of insect larvae. Got some wandering felines in the 'hood that are dispensing fleas as they're wanderin', so Bob Webster sez throw down some beneficial nematodes in the yard, water 'em in - once in the fall and once in the spring - and you won't have no fleas. (I'm not sure who's gonna tell them felines to quit wanderin' tho!). Anyways, not everybody gets beneficial nematodes for a birfday present - a MILLION of 'em. Can you believe that?!! Definitely a first for me!! I wonder who had to count 'em and package 'em!

Anyway, thanks again for the birfday wishes. Got me a *$$ card to use next Friday - let's do Leon Springs this week!!
