View Full Version : Yep, he's totaled

Finally got to see the bike (a month after the crash). Short version - he's totaled, right frame is broken. He did his job protecting me, tho. Damn. Loved that bike!

I was going straight (north), passing (in my lane) a vehicle turning right. The left-turning SUV (west) hit me at an angle, looks to be right on or a little ahead of the J-Peg. Impact drove the J-Peg, and the frame, into the engine, splitting the crankcase cover, among other things, the bike ended up on the left side, sliding into the curb across the street. At some point the bike was airborne, landing on my right foot, after I also slid into the curb (chin bar looks quite chewed).

Thanks, BMW (bike and helmet - concussion only), Stitch (not a mark, just a bruise on shoulder - note I slid across the street), CruiserWorks (boot was not penetrated, just 900lb bike landing on the foot).

Only 2 questions: replace with what year? new or used?

Now, if I can figure out how to upload pics . . . .

Wow Jim, sounds like just the kind of ride none of us wants! Glad to hear your gear worked as advertised and you're in one piece. Hope the foot is OK. Now to start thinking about what color new GT you want huh? Or pick up a decent late model LT while waiting on the next gen?

Rest up & heal buddy.

John

Jim,
Sorry about your mishap but glad your relatively okay. Take the time to heal and I'm sure you will find a suitable sub by the spring thaw.
