What do you think about putting together a RTE or some evening gathering in conjunction with the Ft Worth International Motorcycle Show? Seems like a good opportunity to meet and greet other members of the LT community. Thoughts....?

HI LEZ,

Sounds like another great idea to be had be the Southern Central LTers. I will get the word out down south and you get your guys up north informed. This Saturday we will be meeting together for breakfast in Blanco at Sunset Cafe. I am guessing the usual guys plus more new faces. so far to count I am hoping on about a dozen or more Lter's. We had a nice tech session with sixteen and most of them are returning for breakfast at Sunset Cafe . Please send some details on this event lioke location and maybe places to sleep ??(prefer Lter's homes or backyard camping). I will start the ball rolling at breakfast for those interested and get together with friends in the Fort Worth area for some free places to sleep. All I know is the Date November 17-19...It would be nice to have a couple meeting places and times..You know how hard it is to get everybody on time in one direction...We all know more will show up of we say together and keep cost down. Sound like it could be a Blast !! I have never been ??
Really want to get a look at the New Kawaski Concours-14

Might be nice to scout out some local hotels for those out of towners coming in for the show which would be convenient for the show and the RTE.

I got to stay away from this years IMS.

Last years attendance cost me a new Bike http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif but it's a hoot to ride!

Hi Jeff,

I'll talk to the folks up here and scout out some locations in the next few weeks and get back to you.

Thanks

We went two years ago (my roomy and I) and everyone wussed out. Only one other BMW at the hotel. Now if I could only remember which one it was....it was a ways from the show but there was a train that took us right to it. No problem with traffic, or parking (that can be a real treat....) Surely someone will recall which hotel it is (a nice one, just off a main highway, with a great little restaurant bar nearby) CRS has set in big time!

BUTT weather can be so crappy between SA and DFW that I swore I'd never go back! Not sure but probably gonna stick with that oath.

Russ, I didn't go, but I believe you are talking about the Radisson on 75 (Central Expressway).

That's prolly the right one, Richard. We did that one a coupla years in a row when the show wuz in Dallas. The Trinity Pub wuz a crawl-across-the-parking-lot and the MARTA or whatever they call the rail system picked up and dropped off right there. I never did hear why they moved the show to Ft. Worth.

Last year, folks from around these parts hit the show in Houston. Some have said they'll prolly go back to Houston. I'm gonna hold my decision until some more feedback from past attendees kicks in as to which venue will be most popular.

Dick,

I've been to the IMS Denver a few times, HOU last year, but haven't done DFW so I can't really compare those two. IMO, HOU beat DEN hands down but ugh, that drive to HOU :(. Course, I-35 is no prize either ! I guess if the collective decided on DFW then a little detour round Hico/Stephenville would cure a lot of riding ills :).

I think the rent in Dallas got too high. I'll be at the Ft. Worth show, spending some time at the TMRA and CMA booths. I'm sure I'll be able to go to dinner with y'all. Maybe we can go up to the Stockyards and eat at one of the steak houses, and grab a beverage at the famous White Elephant Saloon.

We're doing the Ft. Worth shew this year.

Last year, Richard and I managed to hit Houston right in the peak of crush hour. We donned our kamikazee spirits and tally hoed (heavy on the ho) into the mess. We stayed at the Marriot and they had a train thang, too.

I reckon Ft. Worth doesn't have a train, we can always ride a cow.

We closed the place back in '94 after my 20th HS reunion dinner at Joe T's. Some of my drunk buddies even gatored on the dance floor! :histerica

Played there a couple of times myself..

The last time I met the prettiest lady police officer I have ever seen..

She even let me touch her... I told her I'd risk the assault charge.....:)

She was fine......

Let me know what is decided and I'll try to make at least a day trip.. Overnite if were not playing somewhere...

Maybe I can get Carter to book the Elephant..... That'd be fun..

The Panhandlers ( one of the groups I play in.) have the top rated song on the Indy station there in Ft Worth.
"Where the Hell Is Johnny Cash"

Guessing we should tell them the WFLT(World Famous LT) are coming in town and they would roll out the Red carpet for us.. I Liked Munson idea who can ride the BULL the longest?? I have only been know for shooting the bull, never ridden a Bull in my life...Huuummmm sounding better all the time, Two things I have never done all in one weekend.. Also love to SW dance and that's the place to do it!

Bones,

Saddle up Mama and let's do the IMS. I found one biker friendly hotel already where we all can stay for FREE. Just imagine more $$ for the party. I never have been to one of these shows...Nobody can rain on a LTer's. Who needs a rail or Limo when you already have the best wheels!

I know where there is another Greenie, I would tell ya but it's worth at least the first beer in Fort Worth. Looking forward to ridding with two Green LTers.....I will be pinging ya later.....Please drop me a PM with phone #

One house so far still working on getting more doors open..Any body there?
I was going to start a Thread (BFH) Biker Friendly Homes...

Kinda like the BMW A-book...Amazing how many people fear strangers......Living around the world as a child I learned at an early age "Strangers are the friends you have not met" You are welcome to stay with us but bring sleeping bag, not enough beads...Maybe if the weather is nice some bikers will enjoy camp in the yard. It is the closest to the restroom....heheheh greener grass....Send me PM Early1.

I look forward to every one of these shows and have only missed one due to a fambly emergency. Oh yeah, we gonna be staying for free, too. Though I don't know how free it will be if them two gals hit the Dallas shopping.

I'm riding! She got so cold coming back (I think it was 2000, they were shutting down the freeway behind us in Dallas due to ice) that she won't ride that one again!

I'll let the air out of the trailer tires:D
