Tried HOW and FAQ

The other night I found a 12k service kit that had everything in it including the funky funnel. Can't find the site now. The FAQ/HOW mentions going to a site of two and putting in 12k in their store search. That goes nowhere. Any help appreciated.

I've been particularly neglectful and have ~10k on my 02'. I have never done anything since the 600 mile checkup so I figure I owe it at least an oil change. Anyway, I finally have it apart to change the starter relay I welded and thought I'd do a little maintenance. Any leads on the all inclusive 12k kit I described? I hate to cobble together the bit and pieces on the web, and when I go to the dealer to pick up the SO starter kit I'm sure they'll try to soak me full retail for all the 12k required goodies. I suppose I'll drain the rear end to see what all the fuss is about on the board while I'm at it...

If it still has the factory brake fluid, you may seriously want to consider a full system flush. Other wise you will shelling out $1700 for the ABS unit soon due to corrosion. A flush is money well spent.

Will do, thanks for the advice on the brake fluid. I'll forage through the FAQs until my Clymer book arrives from Amazon next week. Didn't I read somewhere in the past that that had to be done at the dealer for ABS reasons or something???

In my earlier post I didn't mention that I actually do have the common sense to do the fluid changes when the engine is warm... I was just thinking about how I may have come across in the post.

Get a 'real' list of items needed from someone on the list here. I say this because a friend purchased a "kit" from a dealer and got parts that did not go on the LT. It even included, IIRC, parts that are almost never replaced like a pan gasket and a replacement o ring for the oil filler cap.

Not really, BUT do not attempt unless you feel capable. A screw up here can be serious. The flush, provided you don't introduce air can be done with out the Moditec. Bleeding a system once air is in can also be done but it is very difficult and should be followed up by a Moditec TEST to ensure it was done completely.

There are good articles here on doing the actual flush by Mark Neblett. Read it over and decide if you want to do it. Most dealers are fairly reasonable on the flush. But it will be far cheaper than replacing the ABS unit.

Got it, Thanks. I'll be doing the air filter etc also. Can you think of any other "must do" items. Obviously there is the 12k checklist, then again there are those of us in the real world. I'll probably take the advice to change the brake fluid also.

I really hate to lose my status, but apparently that is the only way to get the name change according to the board ops'.
