What annoys me is how the volume of commercials is raised, just to make sure we hear them! Is it any wonder people are using Tivo and the Dish/cable equivalent to avoid them?

My pet peeve is the adverts for drugs that say "Having X symptoms? Ask your doctor about WonderDrug." If I actually need something, then my doctor should prescribe it based on my symptoms and medical history. I sure don't need the drug companies coming into my house to push their over-priced stuff at me.

Capitalism has its advantages, but the marketing machine is way out of control here.

To who?
---the proceedure to "drain" a "stuck" lizard guys---really you don't.

Have seen quite a few since the new drugs for non-working units hit the market.
Stuck on "go" is a REAL problem.

I have an Aunt who runs to the doctor every time she sees one of these commercials and thinks she has those symptoms. He just gives her a sample or prescription for the new drug and sends her on her way. Last time I saw her she had to hang on to the wall to walk, and she is driving! She has had 3 wrecks in last 18 months. Just minor fender benders, but how long till something serious happens.

Not trying to make light of the condition, just the commercial.

I believe it is government mandated that they give the most common side affects, and the harshest. There was a commercial (possibly for Wellbutrin?) years back that rifled through the numerous side affects, ending with "sudden death has occurred in rare cases." Who in their right mind would put that in an commercial unless they were being forced.

Who would put that in their body unless they were being forced.

You've got a point there...

The prescription drug commercials are annoying...BUT

The SUV/Pickup/Jeep commercials are just blatantly outright deceptive.
I'd love to do some of the things they do with their trucks to mine...and
when it cracks the frame or damages the body...take it back to them and
tell them to FIX IT...FREE. If they won't take them to court.

"Well, your Honor...they show this truck falling off a cliff with no scratches in their commercial to show how tough it is...I figured they wouldn't do it unless it was true. Mine didn't fare so well."

Man if only I had a lot of money. I'd try to clean up the deceptive advertising in the auto industry.
